Get to you know your AD

Last summer I popped in my local Omega boutique and struck up a friendly conversation with a sales rep. I ended up buying a grey-dial Seamaster 300m.

Over the course of the next year I popped in once every 2-3 months to see what was new and maybe to show off another watches I had bought... to show that I am a real watch enthusiast and not a flipper

This summer I really liked the Seamaster 300 Heritage 75th and my guy got me the first one sold at the store.

He couldn't get me the Speedmaster 321 I had been wanting but he could get me in touch with another customer who bought one last year and was willing to sell his to me for retail... which I did and now LOVE.

So last week, as I normally do I stopped in to show my new Kudoke watch and showed him a picture of my current collection. He said "You need something gold" and "You need a silver dial" and other comments... but I didn't take too much stock in it.

He knows I was interested in the 75th Ploprof and others.... so when he said to come in yesterday I thought he finally got one in... but nope... he surprised me with a Snoopy!

I am very happy and grateful. I thought I would be way down on the list and maybe get one next year or so.

I offered to take him to dinner lol.... so be friends with your Boutique (if they offer a brand that you might want multiple of and a relationship with) and and visit often.

I just started really started collecting watches in June 2022 and never thought I would get a Snoopy or 321 so soon.

Earlier this year I got my Rolex op41 on just a 3-week wait at the Rolex boutique. So, either I'm very lucky... or going in with a smile, genuine appreciation and excitement for their product goes a long way in getting one.

Congratulations, that is the way to do it. One can “play the game” without having to sell their soul or let the AD date their partner.

Do you play the lottery ? You should given the list of winners. Still not sure if you are taking AD or boutique.

This is the way to develop a real relationship with your SA and AD. I’ve done similar things with my local AD and they always keep me in mind when new stuff arrives. I just wish I had a better Omega retail door near me. I need a boutique to get a 321 like you have and that necessitated me traveling to NYC which is a days drive away. Congrats on the Snoopy!!

An Omega boutique… sorry, I should have been more clear.

This feels like dejavu. Did you post a part of this story else where or am I losing my mind?

Wow this redefines Kama’aina in a big way!! The Snoopy is truly drool worthy - congratulations and aloha 🤙

This is the one part of buying watches that I find annoying and pretentious. I should not have to have a relationship with a dealer to buy one. No watch is with that to me.

It’s not pretentious… the list is literally hundreds of people long for 321s and snoopy… with the boutique getting just 2-3-4 each year it is a way to make sure people who are not flippers get them.

Every business has rewards and gives allocations for repeat customers… try getting a new model car without markup without having a relationship with the dealer… the watch world is no differ t.

The boutique here is awesome… I really enjoy the island. Have to find a way to come back after my wife rotates orders

If we’re talking “true” watch boutiques for Omega, Rolex, etc., then I’m presuming you’re on Oahu. I have ties and roots on the islands and miss Hawai’i every day. Envy you (and your Snoopy!😂)🤙❤️

Regardless it’s not for me. I don’t shop that way.

Great philosophy for everyday life

Nice looking watch! I’m not into chronos but this one is special I think.

Is this a watch that can be sold immediately for way over retail? …kind of like getting a Kermit for retail?
