Brew Retromatic returns to me!

My first automatic was a Brew Retromatic with a copper dial in February 22. From there I bought several more watches and in June 23 my brother was visiting and I gave it to him. We’re both from New Jersey as the brand is and he’s been working with a coffee company for some years now. I read an interview with the founder of Brew and he specifically gave the very company my brother works for a shout. While my brother isn’t a watch nerd at my level he likes and owns a few, but no automatics or mechanical watches. He was grateful for sure. I removed a few links from the bracelet and he was all fitted up.

When I chose that Brew it was the only one available at the time and since gifting it I definitely missed it, though glad he was enjoying it. I got the notion to look for another on eBay and came up with a burgundy dial that just arrived yesterday. It’s in good shape and running as good as the first.

When at the shop, my brother’s watch has been spotted by a handful of those in the know, coffee and watch nerds, and he’s still wearing it regularly. I am very excited to have one back, and now he and I are wearing the same watch on opposite coasts. Better still it was the burgundy dial I wanted in the first place, it was just not available.

I am very glad to have one of these back in my collection. The burgundy has a nice metallic sheen I wasn’t expecting and it really shows at a lot of different shades and colors. Brown, pink, purple and even a tad orange in the light all give a real richness to the texture in the dial.

I think Brew’s newer watches in the past year are very cool I just find them a bit busy, these retromatic models are just perfect in my eyes. Even the shape looks great on my fat wrist, and still great on my bony brothers.

I just might try and get more of these if they ever come up for sale at same prices.

The used market is silly most of the time. After I gave my copper dial to my bro I checked on Chrono24 and saw 2 selling north of $3500!! They were like $450 new a year and a half prior! These aren’t antiques.

I grabbed the burgundy on eBay for retail. Just got lucky. Then I went back to chrono to look, 4 months after last I checked. Check for yourself but it’s still crazy as crackers over there for these things.

It seems worth it to check eBay regularly, but I got lucky.

Awesome! Love the connection you and your bro have to the watch! I can’t wait to see some of their watches at next weeks Watch fair in nyc.

Really nice watches. I bought mine pre-owned a couple years ago. Selitta movement.

The newer models are nice. They’re a lot busier dials but I think the retrographs still have a similar case to these.

The metric in all gold looks super fun. I’ve been considering a gaudy gold watch lately.

Like the dial pattern of this Retrograde #brew And the color is amazing. The coffee brewing history of this brand and the industrial designer behind it is really interesting...
