Why my Armitron Classic Digital Alarm Chrono has replaced all my Casio watches as my go to daily beater

I recently did a post about this Armitron Classic Digital Sport Chrono becoming my night/bed time watch. As I have been wearing it more, I find myself preferring it over my W800, my DW291, my AE1200, or any of my other Casio watches as my go to daily beater watch. It is far more comfortable than any Casio owing to its soft silicon strap, which is also surprisingly durable. It also has a superior backlight in my opinion, being bright enough to see without blinding me in the middle of the night. Casio watches seem to be either too bright or too dim.

It is much more limited in function, having only a stopwatch function and an alarm beyond day, date, and time, but I find these are really enough for daily use. One alarm and a stopwatch are still more than sufficient for my needs. Not bad for a watch that is less than $20.

Don't get me wrong, I still love my Casio watches and they are frequent choices to wear. My G Shocks and Pro Trek are still my go to camping and outdoors watches. All that has changed is my daily beater is now an Armitron instead of a Casio.

Is there an hourly chime?

Is there an hourly chime?

No, just an alarm. I have not been able to find an hourly chime.

So, do you feel the urge to sell off / trade away the Casios that this is superior to?

I ask because with my own collection, I'm beginning to wonder if maybe I have a few watches that are too close in spec to others.  And, if so, is it morally permissible to own 2 watches that are too similar?

Nice one.

I had the same issues with backlights on watches. My current one is almost there but still not perfect.

I think the Casio w202 has the best one but I've not seen it in person yet. It's a dim double orange LED.

No, I am not thinking of getting rid of any of them, especially the vintage Casios in my collection.

I do not have a W202 in my collection. I may have to check it out.

If you hold down the bottom right button and then press the bottom left button,  you will turn on/off the hourly chime.

You can tell that it is on if all the little hamburger symbols show up, when you hold down the bottom right button.

I will have to try that later when I get home from work. Thanks!

Hope it works!

I trust more a Armirtron than a cheap Chinese knock off. Casio for me is my go to watch but for sure big ups on making a trusted choice. And its a nice looking watch love that black/red/white retro look.
