Has anyone actually managed to get a moonswatch??

I know we aren't a massive community on WC, but I thoroughly expected us to be overflowing in wrist shots today and I haven't seen one yet! Have I missed them?? Has anyone actually managed to get one??

(Still amazed by the eBay prices. You can get an original speedy for some of these prices!!)

Well first of all, you’ll be able to buy one online from Swatch in a couple of days so rest assured you’ve not missed your only chance to get one. Swatch have said they won’t be limited, so fingers crossed they’re available online in decent quantities and we’re not complaining about Swatch waiting lists, like Rolex waiting lists 🤣

I was planning on traveling down to London to see about getting one at the Oxford Street Swatch shop, but seeing the queues a day in advance thought better of it.

I know someone via a Watch Discord who says he managed to buy two, but immediately was offered about €1800 each for them outside the store and sold them then and there, cash in hand……some crazy stuff going on.

I think it would have been quite intimidating to be one of the lucky few to get one, and there be like 1000 people outside who want it. Apparently in some places fights have broken out in the crowd…

Well the vid from Watch Me With Watches this morning summed this madness up for me. He got up at 5am and was in London for 7am, and found the queues snaking round the streets for miles, with a tense and intimidating atmosphere. No thanks! Hype and fomo are dangerous things folks!

If any member has one, that would be amazing!  I honestly can't believe how crazy popular this is.  I mean, I am as surprised by the reaction to this, as if you'd told me that there were 2 mile lines of people waiting to purchase this:

cdn.britannica.com/88/6488-050-1A710A80/James-S...

I mean, young people couldn't care less about watches.  When I tried to buy a watch for my younger sister, she said, "What?  Are you gonna offer to buy me a Walkman next?"

Wow, that is crazy.

Over the course of the past 24hrs decided I don't want one any more. I've never been one for going for the popular choice and I don't want to be associated with all this daft behaviour to be honest, I just kinda hoped that we would see some enthusiasts on the forum get the one they were excited about 😔. From what I've heard Swatch have now taken a step back from their previous comments about it being available online in a few days (maybe it never will), so I hope people aren't holding their breath for that.

I thought I'd go for 'Sun' originally, so I'll save up for this instead:

It's less than some of the eBay Swatches are going for 😆

Yeah, FOMO, big ticket items and adrenaline can be a nasty combination. I'm not impressed by Swatch tbh, but maybe this was exactly the publicity they wanted.

I know! I'm shocked too!

I was speaking to my husband about it yesterday and we were discussing that they looked pretty fun and maybe there would even be a bit of a queue at some of the shops this morning 😆

Haha exactly. Right now you can pick up a couple of vintage Constellations or Seamsters for the eBay price of one of these plastic (sorry, I mean "bioceramic") quartz Swatches! Pretty much sums up the stupidity of hype!

For the record I do think this was a really cool idea, but the execution has obviously been a shambles.

flipper is like missing the point here. it is an affordable quartz omega, why they flip it like crazy. we just have to be patient about all of this, probably in a few month after the dust settled price would be right (assuming there isnt shortage on the stock). hey i found someone in watchcrunch already got it.

Well at least she knew what a walkman is, thats a surprise in itself 😂

I figure I have a birthday coming up in July.  I can sit tight until then.

·

Soo...I was trying to get one. Was at the store in my area (Salzburg - Austria) an hour before.

The queue was already at about 200 people. After waiting for 2 hours and making about ten steps in that time I gave up. Just not worth the wait.

Im kinda sad about it. Could have spent the time with my GF. But mabye there will be a time where I can just get one online or something. I really like the watch. Would never buy the original because I am not ready to spend that kind of money on a watch I dont love.

I can’t lie; the sheer amount of hype around these watches is enough that I’m already sick of hearing about them.

Full disclosure: I’m an aging ex-hipster, and some habits die hard. So take that into account. 🤷‍♂️

You probably saw my post. It was a fun experience for me and my friends. I had to make the last minute decision to stay in the flagship Time Square location than the other Grand Central Terminal (GCT) store (even though there were 1/5 the number of people) outside mainly because there's multiple entrances into GCT. Time Square is intimidating. I was around #60 at around 2:30am and was right on #100 by 8am when they did the count. It was truly terrifying seeing all the people in the back (over 1000+) walk up to check on the situation and pretend to slip in the front. People holding signs to buy XYZ Watch, buying our spot, etc are all true. I'm happy the few people in front and behind me who I've talked to seem to be watch enthusiast and was looking to buy it to wear. The second I walked out of the store, my friends and I were swarmed by over 10-15 people.

·

I must admit that when I saw the advertisement pictures by swatch I was like I want that!

But I've also seen some actual pictures of the watch from people who just bought it and for me it looks like the happy meal version of the Speedmaster, no offense though!  I own myself a Swatch group watch and I'm a proud owner, I love the fact they're making an affordable version of such a classic but I wouldn't pay the 260€

I'm the same at the moment. A bit sick of it all for now. Maybe when it's calmed down and they pop up online I'll be back in the mood for one, and I'm always happy to fellow WCs snagging one 👏

Insane. I'm so pleased you guys managed to grab some. It's like we all succeeded in a small way 😆

The fact that we aren’t seeing many wristshots of the moonswatch is telling me that alot of them saddeningly went to hypebeasts and flippers instead of us enthusiasts that actually want them. Either that or we are just smarter and waited for the hype to blow over before we picked one up.😂
