About the terrible BB58 bracelet:

I’ve had my BB58 for about a year. I’ve tried everything to make it fit well and feel comfortable. I tried it loose. I tried it snug. No matter what, I couldn’t wait to rip it off at the end of my work day.

I think I’ve discovered the source of my discomfort and I think I may have a solution. On the underside of the clasp, there are several places with very sharply finished edges and corners.

The parts causing the most irritation were the 90 degree corners on the inside edge of under the flip clasp. They were very sharp and always in contact causing red skin marks, whether worn loose or tight. I filed down these corners with my wife’s emery board that she uses for her nails. You can see in this close up how much I filed the corners.

I have more work to do with the file. The pins that hold the folding arm hinge are sticking out and are also pretty sharp. I will file these down when I get home. Here’s a pic where you can see how the head of the hinge pin sits below the arm that clamps against your skin. This little thing is actually sharp around the diameter where it sticks out.

I actually like the BB58. I think it’s a great watch let down by a terrible bracelet. I don’t want to give up on it and flip it for a loss. I’ve done as much as I can to get a good fit. I have the Uncle Seiko half link in there right now. Since I’ve filed down about 7 or 8 different locations on this bracelet, it’s become much more tolerable, almost even wearable.

I'm glad im not the only one - taking a file to deal with my bracelet.

Perhaps a rubber strap would save the situation?

I had it on a couple of straps but I kinda felt that I was missing part of the charm of the watch without the bracelet.

I got tired of fighting the bracelet and swapped it for the Uncle Seiko president, but kept the Tudor clasp. Now I love it!

Try the Tudor or a 3rd party strap; I also use the Uncle Seiko bracelet, all very comfortable … Strap/Bracelet swapping is part of the fun for this hobby :)

Get the ones with quality quick release spring bar, the swap can be done in less than 2 mins.

I had the same issue as you, that’s why I sold mine & upgraded to the Submariner with the Glidelock ……. Truly worlds apart / but so is the price too

I have thought about the Uncle Seiko option. I have their half link installed right now.

I tried a couple of straps but they didn’t look right to my eye.

I have a Sub but it’s for when I’m in a whole different mood. I think these can both live in my collection. The Sub bracelet is great though.

I think it’s a great watch but I couldn’t figure out why I could only tolerate wearing it for short periods. I did a little more filing last night and I think it will be perfect now.
