BEST WATCH in the WORLD, MILGAUSS!!!

It's true. The Rolex Milgauss is the best watch in the world...

Of course I'm joking. I did, however, buy a Milgauss a couple months ago prior to Rolex discontinuing it recently. I purchased it brand new through the gray market for $2,000 over retail. I had my name on a few lists but we're all aware of how soon you would get a call from an AD. I figured I'd go ahead and take the plunge and buy gray market.

I was looking into Rolex's and I had/have an appreciation for pieces like the OP, GMT and SkyDweller.

After trying on the SkyDweller I was turned off only because I have a smaller wrist.

The OP and GMT are great but for the price I wanted something different. I already had similar pieces like the OP and GMT/Dive look so I was interested but hesitant.

Then I glanced at a piece I normally didn't get drawn to. I was curious about the lighting bolt seconds hand. I started reading up on the Milgauss and immediately felt connected.

Side note; When I'm looking to purchase a watch I TRY to find something that is meaningful to me or has a special connection. I try not to just buy a watch to buy a watch. I also try to buy certain brands when I'm looking to buy a particular compilation. For example, If I'm going to buy a GMT I want to try to buy a GMT from the brand who created it or history speaks highly of that brand in regards to the GMT complication.

I'm in the engineer field (audio) and occasionally work around magnetic fields (speakers and equipment). So when I saw the Milgauss and read up on its history and how it was the at the forefront of dealing with magnetic fields in watches I was hooked.

I know that most watches now can handle magnetic fields but the fact that the Milgauss started it all was interesting to me. Not to mention its unique crystal and seconds hand that @Max mentions in his Milgauss post. The oyster steel bracelet is one of my favorites in my collection.

As I said, I'm joking about it being the best in the world. For some it will be and It is one of my favorites! What's your favorite watch and what do you feel is the best in the world!?

If I could call some watch a grail for me, I think Milgauss could be that one.

It was in my opinion the best Rolex model so far. Congratulations.

·

So sad they dropped it. You had impeccable timing!

·

For me personally, the seconds had gets in the way. Everything else, I like.

I have this copy lol. It's like $60. This design is very unique to this watch.

Wasn’t a grail for me but very pleased to own and will remain in my collection.

Yeah, it’s at least the best one TO ME because of my field so I have a better connection to it than someone other model.

Yeah, would have been great to see what they could have done with it. Glad I bought it when I did!

I think that’s what I appreciate most about it. Makes it unique and makes you take a SECOND look, haha. But I can see wheee some would say, “no thanks!”

bought mine when it was first re-released in 2007 for about 6,000ish USD at the AD. The AD told me that I was one of the first owners in the world. (Back then there were no wishlist) All my friends laughed at me for buying this model, I didnt care, it was lvoe at first sight for me. 😂

it is still my favourite Rolex. Milgauss bros fist bump! 💪

This is the Rolex I want. Been on the waiting list for more than a year, I am not sure what I will do.

Would say grey market sadly. I didn’t want to wait and play these games.
