Would you rather pay extra for a Sellita SW200 or save some money and take the Seiko NH35 instead? Or have both as an option?

I've never had issues with either, but I have noticed SW200s sometimes feel "grittier "

I was having this argument in my head. My Seikos just S5 sport standard 5KX 4R run within 4 seconds a day right out of the box unregulated. Im told thats not normal but my Spinaker is NH movement regulated by spinnaker and runs bang on gaining 1-2s/day. My Sellita SW200 watches 3/4 were regulated by mfg and Are between -1 and +6 s/day. One is COSC. In my mind i still value the Sellita but my measurements suggest im wrong.

My SW200 was loud, not impressed. I’d rather go cheap while I save for a better movement.

Neither. Will take Miyota 90xx series all day, every day.

Agree on the Miyota. But between the options of the OP, I’d choose the NH35 any day. It definitely makes the watch thicker but the difference in price for me doesn’t make me want an SW200 in a watch.

Save the money. My SW200 (Glycine) feels very gritty and it often 'helicopters' when winding. Not to mention no finishing on either.

This is my problem exactly! I love and value all of my Seikos, but there is still something about my Sellitas

Interesting

The NH35 has plastic components. It’s almost never economical to service it. Replacement is almost always the cheaper option.

A disposable watch movement seems wrong to me. Part of the beauty of mechanical watches - to me - is their maintainability.

I can't argue with that
