Miyota 8000?

A watch I wanted that was way overpriced has dropped from $400 to $239. Frankly I still think its overpriced, but at almost half I'm willing to consider it. I'm tempted to get it but I know nothing of the Miyota 8000 automatic. Or Miyota in general. Can I got some opinions? ***EDIT*** This watch BTW. I've been trying to get a half way decent MECHANICAL Mickey made for a grownup (steel and sapphire) for ages. (With arm style hands). So I'm open to better suggestions as well. (Nothing over this price range though). I shouldn't even be doing this.

Yes I know what a Google search is. I was hoping for a bit more from people with experience.

I wouldn’t buy a miyota based watch for every day. Citizen Group use them because they own miyota. Others use them because they’re cheap (ok, low cost).

Anyway, for a ‘fun’ watch for occasional wear, such as a Mickey Mouse one; maybe ok. But, for reference, my Snoopy from Invicta cost me $55 new from Amazon. So I also agree $200+ is still way too high. IMO

Thank you, I just don't have a lot of options for what I'm looking for.

I see Mickey Mouse watches on eBay frequently. Have you tried there?

Allow me to quote myself

"I've been trying to get a half way decent MECHANICAL Mickey made for a grownup (steel and sapphire) for ages. (With arm style hands)."

Lots of small crappy quartz. I'm not finding much of anything. But I'm looking. At LEAST 40mm bare minimum.

Searched eBay for Mickey Mouse watch.

Filtered for automatic/40-43mm

This is just one. If you add search in description, etc., there may be more.

I'll do more digging. Looking for a more classic look. Not hand arms. But I'll keep looking.

Miyota 8000s are a value workhorse movement. Nothing particularly wrong with them. They seem to be reliable but obviously not as refined as some other options put there. Can feel a little unrefined when winding or using it. They are budget movements for a reason but they seem to be reliable which I would say is the most critical thing. Also they dont always offer hacking, which I think in new watches I feel should always be a feature. They are common enough that should be easy to service...and cheap enough to not be that hard to replace and reliable enough that you shouldn't have to do neither for some time.

Miyota 9000 series movements are great but obviously they come at an extra cost. But they are a step up from say and NH34/35. So Miyota makes decent movements.

Also that's a pretty cool Mickey Mouse watch. Definitely fun.

I to love the Mickey Mouse watch, I picked up a cheap one at Hong Kong Disneyland 4 years ago, just had to have it.

Check for the Ingersoll Mickey Mouse.

Ingersoll was the first watch who had the idea for that. But it might also be that they are owned by Fossil. I didn't looked yet.

And I think you can also go for Quartz,as long the Mickey Mouse is what you are looking for.

Miyota movements are solid and reliable. I have a few different watches powered by them and have no complaints thus far.

They are nothing fancy, but they aren’t trying to be either.
