Frustration! Crazy sellers!

A watch I've been looking for for years popped up on eBay, and its perfect, but the price is insane! Every other one of these I've seen has been about $100. But he wants $550! It must be the color. But if I give in I won't have a pot to piss in for the next six months. The Blue and steel variant of my second favorite watch. I could wait years for another one. This is driving me even crazier.

You have this with both the red and the brown face don’t you from what I can see?

·

Repeat the mantra: it’s just a watch. It’s just a watch. There will be others like it in the future. And if not, it’s just a watch.

·

Personally I'd wait, been waiting a loooong time for a very particular Invicta to pop up at a realistic price, finally found it.

·

I mean - devil's advocate here, if you've been searching for it for years that does support the case that it's rare and valuable.

That being said, I can't imagine the seller will actually get that price, and they probably know it. Throw them a reasonable offer and see what their reaction is.

I have TWO of the original ones in brown, and the reissue in red. But I LOVE blue face watches, been hunting this for years. Its the one color that almost never turns up. Wish they had done the reissue in blue.

I'm trying. I just keep trying to hold out hoping somebody buys this before I break. I'll never afford my dream watch, but this is a rare (favorite) color variant of my second favorite watch. The one I wear all the time.

It was only made one year, and good examples are rare.

Is it 5 times the watch to you? Did the price come as a surprise to you?

If its still there in a week, I'll make an offer. He offered me $50 off, but its got to go lower than that, I expect he would find my best offer insulting. I try never to buy watches on credit, its as dumb as gambling on credit.

I'll think on it. Maybe tonight. I doubt anybody else is going to bite on it. People think the reissue is the ugliest Timex in years. They just savaged it. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and I think the early 70s stuff is the most beautiful stuff in the world. I never claimed taste but I know what I love.

·

Is there anything you could try and offer in part ex to bring the price down?

You got the right strategy there. 👍

The last one I missed went for less than HALF that. So yes it did come as a surprise. I bought a virtually unworn brown one (still waiting for service) but running perfectly for 1/5 that price. If I HAD the money I'd drop it in a heartbeat.

Not on eBay sadly.

·

I love the red reissue, but they're rare up here in Kanuckistan and I don't think any other color variant was offered up here either ...

·

So you are saying people should make $75 offers for a while?😂

There is indeed a Make Offer option.

Heh. Perhaps someone will buy it now and break the Gordian knot. Thankfully, I’m starting long bike ride and I won’t have to think about it till I get back.

eBay stores can get crazy. Aragon had BOGO sale on the Bioluminescent (a watch with lume everywhere) for $180. These guys bought them like crazy and tried selling for $220-260. Get the 🤬 out of here. I get you want to make a little money, but charging triple! Nah dawg

It doesn’t matter if Jesus Christ himself wore the watch. If the cost ruins you or makes you give up priorities, you can’t have it. It’s just a watch. You’ll be happier for not sacrificing your life’s comforts over a watch. It’s just a watch.

I’ve been looking at my finances, and you are right. I can’t do it. Much as I want to its going to have to wait…..

·

Instead of fretting about this watch, why not buy some watch tools? I note that you said one of your watches is waiting to be serviced. Just a thought.

If I can't afford this watch I certainly can't afford watch tools.........

·

You wouldn't need high end tools for tinkering. See what's out there?
