My primary Certina is a 99.9% desk diver 🤿
I have a dedicated cheap traveling diver for sunny vacations, and a dress watch for more dressed up occasions, but usually my trusty Certina DS Action Diver is with me for most activities.
For me, I can understand cheaper watches being below 5 ATM. But, more expensive watches, especially non-dress watches, I feel are just stupidly executed if they are below 5 ATM. AP as an example have watches at 2 ATM, and those are not dress watches. I feel at that cost it is not justifiable to have that low of a rating.
Me myself have a few every day watches at 5 ATM and haven't had any issue with day to day use. But for snorkling or swimming I either use my 10 ATM beater (in salt water) that I regulary check or my 30 ATM diver (in lakes) which also gets checked at regular intervals.
Yes, I shipped it to Certina through my retailer again and fortunately they replaced the entire clasp the second time which solved the issue perfectly. I think the retailers description of the issue was.. somewhat lacking the first time they shipped it, for they only replaced the locking of the clasp itself, not the extension part. But the second time I made sure the issue was better described.
The clasp has never spontaneously opened since, not even under quite a bit of load.
So my recommendation is to take it back to your retailer and ask them to have Certina replace the clasp.
I hope the issue gets resolved for you aswell, for now I totally love the watch!
I've worn standard weight watches for 20 years (40mm diver on bracelet). Haven't really thought about it until a few weeks ago, when I for fun placed the watch on the right wrist, I was surprised how heavy it felt, or maybe not heavy, but super annoying. So I guess I prefer not to feel it too much, but I'am used to slightly heavier watches.
The ratchet teeth are quite clean. I can see some wear on the teeth, can it be so that titanium is not a very good material for this type of ratchet as it deforms quite easily?
