I was hesitant to cut the strap ($150 G Shock GBD 200). But I've had it for a year as my beater and the extra length would always stick out quite far because the keeper doesn't stay in place.

Interesting 🤔 I also boast 6½" but my GBD200 strap looks as if it fits me better. Maybe they've changed the keeper style, as I struggle to move mine

I do if necessary. I then use very fine sandpaper and clean up the edges to mimic the original look.

I wear my strap loose so maybe that's why it moves.
