🟢with numerals ?

Damn since my last post of the SOTC I said I’m fine for now~ yet 2 of my friends are thinking of getting these bad boys and it’s sparked an interest but to tell the truth I think it’s just to ✅ the boxes for me, as I’ve got No GMTs or Pilots so a dial with numerals and some green for color would be a nice mix to the collection~ which one though?

I love IWC, but the Longines is special. Perhaps their best watch.

Yeah I think so too , I’ve not given them any thought until my friend said he wanted to get that one

Longines = better looking, rough around the edges (wobbly movement, sharp case edges, cheap bracelet). Great watch for about $1600 (if you look around)

IWC = Exceptionally well made, albeit a little (intentionally) boring design. An aspirational pricing strategy , but many new watches are.

Yeah I looked at a review and that GMT hand doesn’t give me Confidence

It is sketchy as heck. I say that as an owner. No watch that price should have a movement that shoddy.

After a couple of years of being an avid watch enthusiast, I still fail to see the value in IWC watches. $7000 for a basic painted flieger dial and a fully brushed case is baffling to me. I guess I'm just clueless. 🤷

As @GullibleAndroid said in another thread, "at arms length, there is 0.01% perceivable (and perhaps functional) difference between a $99 Steeldive Pilot and a multi-thousand dollar IWC."

Let alone the sketchy heritage and association with the Luftwaffe that we enthusiasts somehow decided to sweep under the rug. 🤫

On the other hand: gold hands and applied indices and logo, 6 o'clock date window and color matching date wheel, flyer GMT function, more sophisticated case finishing techniques and better proportions, no association with nazism, and overall a more gorgeous watch, for half the price? The Longines sounds like a bargain by comparison. 😂

I don't like pilot watches, but I'm a magpie for sunburst.

I agree somewhat as to why after all this time I’ve never had one, just seemed like crazy money for something so basic?

Yet those who do own then always tell you how good there are! I guess they will have a better idea.

Back to History~ being based in Schaffhausen there right in the middle of Switzerland & Germany so they played both sides of the fence by staying neutral or waiting to see which side won? 🤣 no that doesn’t really bother me.

Me too, never saw anything special in them~

But I’ve got too many divers so it would be nice to put on something different now & again
