Aged super luminova ?

Guys does anyone know of that super luminova ages? I’ve just seen this pic of the SMP300 , the left is from the Brosnan era of the 90s omega Bond watch, I believe they are using luminova instead of tritium at that time, yet it’s all gone yellowish like the old tritium patina?

Luminova only started rolling out in the mid-90’s, and Super Luminova at the end of the decade, I believe, so it’s not clear if the OG Brosnan Seamaster Pro uses it.

Even so, Luminova might age, but much slower than older lume paint. I’m not sure whether it’s luminescent material that ages or the substrate into which it’s mixed that deteriorates.

But you’re somewhat comparing apples and oranges. The lume plots on the left are painted glued on plots - basically just lume paint stickers (I saw one of those OG SMP’s on Friday on the wrist of an AD and that’s how he described them 😄; he loved it anyway). More modern SMP’s - even my 2010 SMP GMT - have applied lume markers, which are metal buckets filled with lume paint. The latter have a lot more luminous material, so they should glow stronger/longer.

Luminova isn’t just one product, too. They make multiple grades, with multiple colors, and keep making newer, more powerful versions.

I have the Bond Onega on the left and bit has always been green in the dark. Also it is as bright today as it was 20 years ago when I bought it.

Great to hear, I’ve got a Bond Tag Heuer from the 80s with a tritium dial, still glows ….. but only for about 5mins once in the dark , but it’s already gone to that beautiful creamy yellow color.
