Finally getting this d*mn watch out of my head

Ever since I saw my friend got his SNKL41 almost exactly a year ago, I have waffled over getting one for myself. I have gone back-and-forth at nausea and have annoyed him about it to the point of “just get the watch!”. Most the time it has been “close, but no cigar”, in regards to its level of detail. I liked it, but it could always be better and more fine. That would make it perfect for me. The other day, while trying his on and wearing it when he left it at my place and talking about it with another WIS, I said “Fuck it. I think the only way I’m gonna get this out of my head is to just buy the fuckin’ thing.”.

Part of me wanted to match with him some, so there’s a plus.

While trying to size the stock bracelet, I immediately lost the spring bar in the clasp. *sigh* of course… But thankfully I have a backup bracelet that I got in the mail last week. After I get my taxes done, I’ll buy a bunch of new 18 mm and 16 mm spring bar (probably in 1.8 mm).

I’m glad this came in sooner than I expected. Now, after a a good cleaning, I can stfu with my waffling and just wear the thing.

That’s a clean, classic rather retro dial. Looks great! Nice choice! 👍

Thanks. I thought so, too. Would have been nice if it had fitted endlinks that would fit, but the straight end link look has been growing on me a bit after gawking at some vintage Explorers online.

I have the black dial version of this watch, the SNKL45. It was my daily for nearly two years, beat the crap out of it. I found an oyster bracelet on Etsy with end links that fit pretty well…I wonder if it’s still out there.

Beautiful #seiko 5. Enjoy!

Finally! Now I can say to you, my friend...

Looking forward to seeing the many bracelets and straps you will get for it. Welcome to the SNKL4x club! 🥳

A #president and a #jubilee are definitely the first two you should get ;)

But, I still like the original bracelet, as its clearly of Seiko & GS DNA...

Hmmm. May-be, may-be! I’ve been unsure what bracelets i want to put on this watch. But honestly, after seeing early vintage Explorers, I’ve become infatuated with watches with the riveted bracelet, and to a lesser extent, certain styles of watch case on straight endlink-ed bracelets. However, i think this Seiko might have too much Seiko elegance for that to work here. Real or fake, riveted braceletes should probably stay on Rolex and Tudor cases. Speaking of…I’ve been eyeing up a Tiger Concept DD that has one, and I certainly plan to add that to the collection this year.

Haha, i love it! That made me chuckle.

Your blue suede NATO is very persuasive! And i have seen magenta straps that i would love to try out.

I'm all for straight end-links too, bud. The president bracelet I got actually has a straight end-link included.

Here are other bracelets with straight end-links... ;)

I 100% agree. Seiko has one of my favorite takes on the Oyster bracelet, so much so that i just call that style, with polished inner flanks the “seiko oyster”. I think I’ll get a pair of spring bar tweezers before i put it back on, because, man, are those endlinks tough to get off and on.

Go for all of those! The #snkl41 is a pleasure to put on various straps and bracelets.

Yep, the Seiko Oyster beats is unique indeed. And yes, getting the stock end links on and off takes practice and getting used to. If it will help, I just use enough fingernails to get the spring bars attached. Again, it takes practice but you will soon get the hang of it. ;)

Try getting it also a few more suede straps in various colors. Here it is in a light gray one. Don't mind the dark room which makes it out to be much darker gray.

Nice. That is a sleek watch. Once mine is all scratched up, I’ll probably give it gentle polish. Definitely would be interested to know. My friend lost the ones to his SNKL41 🤦
