Discontinued Daytona

Yeah Rolexrolexrolex…I know we don’t care but it’s kind of funny:

So Rolex pleased some super wealthy collectors recently with the Le Mans Daytona, a watch that has elements of the coveted Paul Newman Daytonas.

…And they just discontinued it, basically ensuring that these will be as rare as said vintage Daytonas, making a few of those super wealthy collectors very happy.

Well played Rolexrolexrolex

Yes it is BS. Same for that Palm dial 36mm datejust, I always fancied one of those.

It was only ever meant as an anniversary watch. One and done.

Yeah that makes a lot of sense. I guess I’m just confused by the fact that some “anniversary watches” (old gold sub, Kermit etc) have made their way into regular production

Standard reaction to what they do anymore - 🤨🙄

Understandable. There is the 50th anniversary of the Sub, so “here is a new watch (no special markings or dates)” and there is the 100th anniversary of Le Mans, “here’s a watch to commemorate it, including Easter eggs tying it to the event.” Once it is no longer the anniversary it seems hard to sell a watch with the 100 on it when they are now on year 101.

I mean don’t most luxury brands do that? Cartier releases new watches annually with only 150 pieces (ex. 2023: Santos-Dumont Skeleton Micro-Rotor). Rolex did the same but doesn’t say how many they are making.

It'll be back: marketing, right? 😉

Looks like back in yellow gold 😆 yep more big gold sports watches from Rolex (yeah It was originally white gold, just seams like a lot of yellow and rose (or whatever the proprietary name is) form them this year)

Another good point for sure. I think they are selling it in yellow gold now.

The beauty of the white gold was the stealth aspect to it. Hard to hide a brick of yellow gold on the wrist!
