Okay that's it, I'm done buying watches, and other comforting lies I tell myself

I won a gift card at a work raffle, so I decided to finally buy myself a Duro. I did have a different steel casio diver, but it didn't click with me mainly due to the bad bracelet it came on. I passed that on to one off to one of my coworkers and he really digs it, and in turn he passed it on to his dad, who "never takes it off." Great! I already have a couple of inexpensive  divers, another Casio and a Pro Diver. I like my Pro diver quite a bit, but it's not a Casio. Size wise, it feels like the same dimensions and fit as my beloved dw6900, but it's enjoyably heavy. I like that it's quartz, I can just put it on! This feels like the limit of what size traditionalish analog watch Id feel comfortable wearing. It's still really influenced by other watches, but it seems less homagey than the pro diver. I usually wear my other divers on more leisurely days, but I will wear them to work when I feel like it, so I suspect it'll go the same way. For my next watch I want a cool, more robustly specced/(and alas)priced watch, I'm thinking metal g shock square, Citizen ecodrive diver, maybe a seiko speed timer. Sure, those cost as much a new video game system, but my ps3 still works and who knows when the new elder scrolls will show up?

The title is so relatable lmao.

I started with an Invicta Pro Diver and now my collection has grown a ton.

I love researching watches, I have a couple ideas you might like to look into for your next watch.

  1. Citizen Diver (this one is automatic)

Citizen Promaster NY0125-83E

I came across this watch listening to a podcast that I cant remember, it's a bit of a chunky watch but seems like a cool option, roughly $270 on amazon. This watch is also a JDM only model

2. Seiko Speedtimer (alternative)

Seiko SBTR02X

This is another JDM only watch line, specifically called the "Spirit Selection". I recently ordered the SBTR027, which looks extremely similar to the Seiko Speedtimer (SSC909P1) for a mere fraction of the price($170 vs $400-$675), the difference being the movement, mechasquartz vs. Solar Quartz.

...and other lies I tell myself

The truth of this statement.

I've lied to myself roughly 15 times this year; just about watch purchasing.

That Seiko looks so good!

Very cool citizen rec. I like some chunk, most of my watches are G Shocks. Right now I'm thinking a BN0228-06W, I tried it at a watch show and had to pry it off!

Ahhhh speaking of ps3 (ps4 myself) you know there’s a term for us?  Patient gamers. Ppl who use old games and are perfectly content playing and replaying them.

I love my Duro,  a few small tweaks (smaller and sapphire) and it would beat most watches hands down.
