Looks good but 100 usd watch for 500 usd?

Do you all think this is fair for putting a few splashes on the dial? I understand it's customized and all but 5 times the price?

IFL watches have a great profit margin....that's for sure💸. Not worth it in my opinion for a hyped "limited drop" pushed by an Angry Dutch hamster YouTuber. But to each their own, they always seem to sell out.

I think we've established that value is whatever the market is willing to pay for an item.

We've also established that not everyone needs to value an item at the same level for the item to sell or to sell out.

Do I find the value in this? No, but I'm pretty sure there will be enough people who do to make this a success for IFLW.

Do they immediately void any warranty by doing this? I'm guesssing yes.

Yes they do. I know this from IFL directly.

I think it's pretty hard to make watch dials, having looked into it because I want to make my own watch some day.

They have to take the watch apart, paint it (in a dust free cleanroom!), potentially take off the lume plots so that they don't damage those, then spray the painted dial with a protective clearcoat, then put the watch back together

compare it to the cost of servicing a standard movement e.g. an ETA2824

it's human labor

I know I'm gonna get a shit storm for this (by certain PC and HR nuts) but not all human labor costs equal. If he's doing it in Switzerland that's one thing but if in.... it's another

IFL seems kinda lame honestly. You should just buy the TimeX and paint the dial yourself!

·

Timex ... Rolex... they're all doin' it and upcharging!

You know, I actually thought about it too. And stiff IFL! Except these hands are not made for manual work. I am bound to break something!

At least you’re only out a few bucks, could be a cool journey to your first mod!

Nah, I cant, regardless of how satisfying that experience might be.
