Attainable Grail- GS Snowflake

Almost pulled the trigger on this bad boy yesterday. Still have some thinking to do. I knew the watch was going to be light with the titanium construction but wow it was light as a feather. Gonna think about it for a week or so and compare with other stainless GS options. What do you think? This has always been my attainable grail piece!

I looked at the snowflake, as well the four season models......the 2 that I liked (dial wise) are titanium.

I find titanium too light. It just feels cheapish to me. I much prefer SS.

Go with your gut mate. Good luck with your decision!

I opted for the GS White Birch Spring Drive SLGA009. I love it. Amazing piece!

Well, if your heart says 'yes'...

A few days ago i stood at the same point. Shared my thoughts with my wifey, pulled out my debit card and the trigger on my grail. It still feels 'right'. I hope it still feels right when it arrives.

You will never have any regrets with that watch or it's spring drive movement.

Unlike @Gray1972 , I actually like the lightness of a titanium watch. Since then, I've been looking around for some other titanium watches. Grand Seiko has jacked up the price on all their watches now that the GS watches are becoming less and less attainable. I also feel like if I'm going to spend >$10K on a watch, I want to look at some other options.

Godspeed on your watch purchase.

Love your WB! Have definitely considered that over a Snow Flake. Happy to know you have been enjoying it!

That's the beauty of our hobby/addiction! We are all different, but we share the same fascination with timepieces! 👌

I was originally looking at the High Beat WB. I found the dial on that too silver, which I felt made it less legible. Also found the amazing Zaratsu polishing on the hands/indices was less noticeable, due to the colour of dial - everything too silver!

The accuracy and the innovation of the Spring Drive movement was another major factor. In the first 3 weeks I wore it constantly and it gained less the a second!!!!

So the movement, the 5 days of power reserve, the way the way the hands/indices catch the light upon a flick of the wrist is really something to be hold. The subtle texture of the white dial is beautiful.

Really is a beautiful watch. I brought a handmade Ostrich leather strap with minimal blue stitching that matches the sweeping second hand and the blue screws on the movement underneath the sapphire.

Pictures just fail to do it justice!

The titanium bracelets (lack of micro adjustments aside as per usual for GS) is actually quite comfortable. I know some folks like the heft of steel, but I honestly associate lightness with luxury as well. If you are wearing this as an almost GADA then that light as a feather presence is an added benefit imo.

Indeed, sir. I hope you didn’t take my comment as calling you out. I was just contrasting my likes. I do admire your GS collection.

No, of course not. I didn't take offence. I have a few friends that like the feel of titanium pieces. I have no doubt if the right one comes along, I'll change my mind.

I think we should always be open minded and welcoming to innovation within our hobby. It's what makes it all the more interesting etc.

By the way, the pics I posted are all of the GS White Birch Spring Drive. It's the same piece. I just swapped out the bracelet for an Ostrich leather strap in some of them. Also looks different in different light etc. That's why I love that particular dial.

Have a great day watch buddy. Always good to share opinions and chat watches. 👌
