Be a fan of the craftsmanship not the company!!

Being a watch enthusiast I see many people buy watches of certain brands blindly , I mean it makes sense if the there is a change in mechanism or watch stands for something but collecting every other watch irrespective the mechanism or build quality just because you are a fan of that brand does not make any sense.

I see this happening a lot in a 200-300 price range section, brands clearly tap on to the buyers of this range by providing same watches again and again . And the buyers who are reluctant to buy anything more than 500 end up buying these watches every other month.

It’s ok to find your own way in the watch collecting hobby. I don’t think there is one right answer or path, just what’s right for you.

I think your focusing too much on monetary value vs what people like. Many companies especially micro-brands focus on the 500 below or 1k and below, so obviously is going to attract most common buyers and to be honest is the sweet spot with fierce competition and great value for watches. Also most companies know divers and homages are very popular so you get a lot of the same.

Agreed. You will be able to get a very nice watch in the <$1k price range. Whether you'll ever need something more expensive is a matter of personal preference.
