Watched and Wonders Predictions
So Watches and Wonders posted a story on their IG today announcing that Rolex will be showcasing new pieces at W&W this year on April 9-15.
I’m excited to see what is going to get announced at W&W this year, not just from Rolex but from other makes too. Share your predictions for what might be announced in the comments below.
One of my predictions is that Rolex will be introducing a gold Datejust with a display case back. They introduced a display case back to the Daytona last year, and I think we’ll see it appearing in more models this year. But my guess is that it will be introduced on. the Datejust.

I wouldn’t be so sure on the gold Datejust front there. They’ve done it before. pretty spenny still too.
I’m predicting a lot more precious metal. ADs have no problem selling the super high end gem set stuff I hear. Two tone GMTs and the Explorer tested the waters.
With the recession risks and property/Evergrande situation in China, I’d bet the market will shift a bit. If you’re still buying high end watches in this economy, there’s a niche of flexing how well you’re doing despite it all.
Piaget did this with the Polo in 1979, right in the middle of the surging oil price crisis. If you were rocking one of those at the time it was probably a huge “I’m making bank” statement.
Solid gold Datejusts and a titanium sports watch are my bets. They’ve made the Yachmaster in titanium, the Sub or Explorer 2 could be next.
The COKE , black and red bezel GMT in steel .. I know this is a common prediction but I have my fingers crossed .
A new addition to the dress watch line from Rolex will come. Everybody will pretend to be excited and nobody will buy one, much like last time. I also predict that whatever else they launch will be unobtainable no matter how ugly it is.
Some small changes coming - a different bezel colour for the GMT and/or Sub and maybe another dress watch but nothing to dramatic I think
If they move the location of the date to 6 across the line, I will be impressed. As it is, it will probably be new colors and precious metals.
Some things I would like to see:
Added complication to the 1908
Coke GMT
Root beer GMT with jubilee options
Titanium submariner
GMT line on oysterflex for precious metals like the Daytona and Yahtmaster
But will probably only get a few dial color updates 🤣
