Do you have an “End Goal” in mind?

I’m curious how many people out there have a specific collection in mind that they think “that is something I can achieve and will be happy with” and be done from there. For the last 4 years or so I would actually try and save every 6 months or so what my ideal collection would be at that time. Of course each 6 month’s collection goal was different from the last, but they have been pretty consistent lately and I think what will ultimately be my end collection will be Rolex Explorer (have) Cartier Santos (have) Tudor Pelagos 39 (talked to multiple AD’s, actively selling watches to fund) Omega Speedy Pro (could probably have enough in another year or two?) Plus a few sentimental pieces and G-Shocks in my current collection. So what about you? Is an end goal something you think about or do you just go where the wind takes you?

I bounce back and forth between these two things on a regular basis, but I'm still relatively new to the hobby (less than 5 years).  Perhaps it'll settle down over time for me? Hard to say.

It is true that I am less "OOOH SHINY!" for a lot of watches compared to how I was in the past, so that leads me to believe that eventually I'll end up knowing what I want and work toward that.  I guess it also depends on what watch manufacturers come up with over the next couple decades.

I tend to go back-and-forth but ultimately know what I want in the back of my head. This causes me to have to re-buy watches that I flipped years ago. Sometimes I think I actually try to talk myself into watches that I don’t even really like lol.

The goal is to stop. It is the only way one will ever be happy.

I have acquisitions planned out to 2046, but I’m pretty sure there will be more interesting watches by then

c.  Be clear of this stupid hobby

Seems unlikely, though.  😜

I would like to choose A but there are so many watches to discover that I think there'll be always some kind of variation. But I try to keep the watches I bought but there isn't a bigger "collection plan".
