The Ultimate, Underrated Quintessential Watch Brand

I'm so Glad to find fellow Orient fans here waxing the truth n their experiences with their Orient Watches, totally underrated as they are n still is. It's an irony that we'd find reviews on social media on watches asking thousands or more than 10s of thousands n claims on some of them being underrated but barely just a few posts about Orient, except for those in the know. I mean, even claims that Orient is totally underrated are rare! 😅 Here is a watch, with History, Horological Heritage, In-house automatic movements, great WR good enough for scuba diving (at least), great quality, build, design, beautiful dials, lovely bezels n at a great price...

*Do add in the comments below for any other great points I missed* Some are even tested to be performing within COSC, at - 0.17 seconds a day. What's more, most of them are solid GADA watches too. Except for tiny little niggles or quirks, this IS the ultimate automatic Diver/Dress/Dinner/Swimming/Office wear/Weekends wear/Formal wear/Casual/Smart casual wear...

For me at least.

The Quintessential Watch if you will, with looks n value to boot, at the Ultimate bargain price... Cheaper on the preloved market too...

But Simply Way, Wayyyyy overlooked.

N yes, to answer THE question, this is the watch I'll grab n go when my house is on fire... 😁

What is/are your favourite Orient Watches? 😊

I agree Orient are brilliant. Anytime anyone asks about the best first automatic watch I either say Kamasu or Bambino depending on what they’re after. Recently got my first Orient Star and so that’s my favourite just now.

I love my Kamasu, and am planning on getting a Bambino this year too.

Agreed, like are you even into watches if you never had a Bambino 🙀

Joking aside, 100% on everyone (especially staring) should try an Orient 🙌

In fact I should give mine more wrist time.

*I think the claims of the dark blue canvas strap were grossly exaggerated tho…

I recently got my first Orient and I could not be happier with it. I love this watch. It is a solar quartz model. I wish they made more watches in solar quartz because I really like the look of a lot of their watches but I am not into mechanicals.

Touché, mate. Well said indeed.

N the fact that Orient can give so much watch with so little cash just goes to show...

That a budget price tag doesn't mean it's a budget watch. 😉

I just wish the bracelet was better, great watches though

Granted the bracelet isn't the best. But for a sub 300... N sometimes sub 200 beater divers; like my blue Mako 2, I think it served its purpose n more. I'm not afraid of scratching the watch, much less even the bracelets n mind you, they wear very comfy on my wrist actually.

In fact, my Mako 2's bracelets are so comfy that I've never needed to swap them out for another; bracelets, nato n leather, etc...

Honestly, the price of their watches, especially the Diver series, totally belies their build, heft n wearability. 😁

Was looking at their dress watches aka bambino. Unbeatable value

·

When I first started getting interested in watches, I was overwhelmed. When you try to find a niche that speaks to you with anything, there is typically a saturation of opinions that pull you in every direction.

Well, as I dove head first into the YouTube world of watches, I quickly noticed a repeat brand. Orient.

I was looking for Divers at first, but knew that a dress watch would eventually make it to the top of my wants, and the Bambino was a model that is CONSTANTLY mentioned. When I finally received mine, I was floored with the quality. The attention to detail and the timelines designs are truly captivating.

I will ALWAYS be an owner of an Orient brand watch.

I share a similar experience. As I dive deeper into the rabbit hole, the prices went up, some through the roof. N while I admire those brands, I wanted something more practical n wearable as a GADA. That was when I found Orient.

I agree that it's not perfect, no watch is. But the history, in-house movements, value, level of quality, selection n price to satisfaction ratio simply beats others in the same price tier, except maybe some microbrands.

While some may argue that Orient is not even worth considering, I think that what Orient offers is the Quintessential Watch. Usable, affordable, with beater qualities n then some. One that we can grow fond of, beat up a little when things get rough n not worry about it...

Yet Trustworthy... at a price that's truly deserving for Both the brand n it's customers.

It's not everyday that a watch company Thinks of its customers these days, except maybe some microbrands...

Which leads me to my take, thus far, on this journey; that Great watches Needn't Come With even Greater price tags. 😉

You make some great points on the price not being what makes a watch great or even desirable. And that the deeper you dive into this hobby, the prices seem to skyrocket. Right now, I am enjoying my time in the micro brand sector. It all seems attainable and I truly enjoy the designs.

I know riiiight mate? Makes one wonder, how much are we really paying for 'Swiss made', when 60% of the parts are sourced likely from China? Given that the microbrands do not have to pay for design n research but for some, like flieger watches, what 'creative designs' are there? So when brands charge thousands n ten of thousands for a watch, no matter how good n tip top or rare the finishing is... Do they tell 'better' time? It bags the question, if the microbrands can give the big boys a run for their monies by giving us wayyy better specs at wayyy affordable prices. How much are we actually paying for a similar watch from the big brands? Granted, some are COSC certified n others like Spring Drive can achieve up to seconds a year but if I truly wanted Better than COSC, I can simply go for a Casio Royale with only 30 bucks. 😁

I think you hit the nail on the head mate. Prices should be affordable n us customers should be able to enjoy the watches we want at truly decent prices. That's a win-win.

Pricing the watch n the customer, especially new watchfam outta the market, that's just makes things worse.
