Spb143 vs Pelagos 39

I currently own the Seiko and don’t see both existing in a collection for me. The Tudor is also not worth 4x the price imo but I digress.

I had the chance to buy the Pelagos 39 at my AD. The hype about the watch had me excited, but when I put it on my wrist I was underwhelmed… made me feel… meh.

That being said, people love them. I’d say try it on and see what you think. But I agree there’s quite a leap in price between it and the Seiko! Especially when the Seiko is a quite capable and good looking dive watch!

Ihad the Spb143 and traded it and I still

Have the pelagos but I’m also debating if I want to keep it but for everyday GADA I will go for the wearability of the pelagos

Although anesthetically they have overlap, both can exist in a collection. The pelagos is titanium, so it can be a placed alongside other unique material watches. It wouldn’t hurt to try it on in person if there’s a Tudor AD nearby

Between the two, the Seiko is the better looking watch I think. I like the 62MAS vibes.

However comma while I'm a fan of Seiko divers, I do not trust/will not buy a Seiko 6R35 movement. I've got three Seiko's with the 6R15 and their accuracy is all over the place - one is good, the other two terrible. The 6R35 is an evolution of the 6R15, and from what I've seen on interwebs, the accuracy isn't anything to write home about. Maybe your experience is better.

Meanwhile, the Pelagos Cal MT5400 is a COSC Chronometer, it comes with an adjustable clasp and a better/longer warranty.

Pelagos and the 143 are nice but the BB Pro GMT could split the diff between capable diver with a vintage vibe, fwiw.

If you already think the Pelagos isn’t worth the price, I don’t know how you will be happy with one.

I’d “leave the Tudor. Take cano-, I mean Sieko!”

Tried both. The Tudor is the better watch in every way. But also a lot more expensive. I personally prefer the looks of the Seiko

While I like the look of the Seiko SPB143, I love both the look AND feel of the Pelagos39. I've purchased both but decided to keep the Pelagos39 only.

The Pelagos39 being made of Titanium (grade 2) with the (much) better COSC movement, Titanium bracelet and T-Fit clasp gives it so much more quality than the Seiko.

If Seiko made the SPB143 in titanium, with a COSC accurate movement (the Caliber 6R35 movement in the SPB143 feels like amateurish timekeeping), and Tudor T-fit equivalent bracelet... I'd have bought and kept that instead. But they didn't in cutting all manner of corners to sell the SPB143 for $1200.
