[Advice Needed] The one watch for all occasions under $1000

Hello, I am a guy in my 30s who is looking for my first watch. Any suggestions for a watch under $1000 with high versatility?

I need it to be suitable for the office, working from home, and family outings. I have a preference for sporty watches as I believe they can complement shirts well, offering more versatility than dress watches.

Ps. Currently I am looking at Orient Kamatsu, Tissot PRX, Seiko Alpnist

Seiko SSK range.

Sporty with a smart bracelet and great colour options, and you'll have cash left over.

Key question to answer is wrist size.

So not knowing wrist size, here are some ideas...

First...Unimatic...lots of choices here...

Great Italian design...works for sporty or dress...all-rounder...

Next...Nivada Grenchen...again a lot of choices...but I would recommend the F77 to start...slightly over $1k but a beauty for all occasions...

Here is a vintage one from 1976...timeless classic...

You could also go with the Antarctic Diver No Date (or you could choose the date version) for just under $1k...

Another cool choice is the Antarctic Spider for just under $1k...unique dial...

Lastly, I would suggest the Baltic MR01...very classy but small at 36mm...

Hope that gives you some different ideas.

This is lit! Like the blue and black dial tone.

If you don't mind a microbrand, I suggest Wise.

If you're more into an everyday watch, a la an Oyster Perpetual. 39 or 41 mm. $550.05

Or if you don't mind a dressy diver, go for these instead. 41mm, comes with both a leather and a FKM rubber strap. Starts from $565.05, depending on the dial. If you want the bracelet those are pre-orders only for now.

This is lit! Like the blue and black dial tone.

The blue on the bezel disappears into a subdued black and then pops into a vibrant blue depending on the light. It's a very smart watch for very little money, especially considering the GMT function, date wheel and exhibition rear case. It's not a perfect watch, but it's very very good for the money.

I would go for either a feild watch or a vintage/skin diver. Hamilton do a few, CW has its military line or the sealander, seiko baby alpinist would work or the baltic Hermetique is a good option. Don't go for lorier as the acrylic crystal is not so good for an all occasions watch.

Check out Certina!

Hamilton Khaki field King all day long!

Have a look at Frederique Constant, they have quite a variety in that range.

SRPD!!! I love mine so much, it’s a fantastic watch, and really lends itself to modding if you want to get into that! Also a strap monster! IMO it is a fantastic watch for the money, and if $1000 is your budget you will come in way under, so if you’re worried the factory accuracy isn’t great you could get it regulated, and even have money left over to start a strap collection to go with it.

Seiko dominates this range, so many great options. For microbrands try Lorier, Serica or Traska.
