DIVE WATCH: Lorier vs Baltic

Hello, I’m looking into buying my first diver. These two “microbrands” Lorier and Baltic have really drawn me in with their beautiful takes on vintage divers, as well as keeping cost relatively low for the value. Both are very similar but I would like some feedback on which you would prefer, and also if you have a recommendation for a diver from a “micro brand “ in this sub-$1000 price range, I would love to hear about it!! Thanks ⏱️

As a first diver and after owning two Loriers, the series III and IV, I'd go around and suggest getting the Baltic. The SIII is a great watch, but the hour hand os not prominent enough and the bracelet was painfully sharp and not wearable for me. The Series IV has a bigger hour hand and nice to look at night but with near no lume to see in the night. The bracelet is great.

But as first diver the acrylic cristal could be a liability thus I believe the Baltic might be a better option although I have never owned one. Sapphire all across, beautiful Bathyscaphe dial design and seems to have a solid construction with drilled lugs and all the rest. I was saving for the Baltic when I came across a nice priced second hand Squale Corso Italiano. And the rest is history.

I own the Baltic. It’s a beautiful watch. If retro styling is important to you, it’s hard to beat the Baltic. The bracelet is very comfortable and the build quality is good too. It’s arguably my favourite watch.
