New Watch Alert plus some extra dabbling in Photography

We've seen a few of these pop up now due to the attention they've been getting on YouTube and for €50 plus the AliExpress sales, how could I say no?

If it's your first time seeing this watch, it is an Explorer style body with dive watch branding and text but a dress watch dial, handset and markers 🤔.

It was a curiosity purchase. How much watch can you get for €50? After handling it I do find the quality of this watch is perhaps over praised in my opinion. But I don't have much reference to go by in the sub €100 category outside of my Vostok. I would say the overall quality of this reminds me of the Vostok bracelets in terms of how they feel. It definitely feels cheap which should be the expectation really.

The movement used here is really interesting and it has me wondering why other watches tend not to offer it. It uses the VH31 giving it about 4 ticks per second and accompanied with that fantastic desert textured dial it is a joy to look at.

Although it feels cheap, it looks great and photographs well. (Please excuse the smudge on the crystal or the peeping bottle cap I used to elevate the watch when taking the shot 😂).

But how does this fit into my collection? Will I wear it often? Time will tell. Outside of curiosity towards this piece, I find myself more and more interested in smaller sized watches and the vast majority of my purchases have been from online retailers but I have no point of reference for sizing. There are no dealers near me where I can easily try on some watches. So my thought process here was acquiring this affordable watch that allows me to explore the 36mm size. Another tool to assist me when purchasing online. It just happens to look good at the same time 😎.

Agree this dune/sand/coffee one in particular is spot on. I almost lump all the Chinese brands into one big conglomerate brand at this point. At least in my head- Addies/San Martin/Steeldivers/Boderry/Berny/etc., all begin the blur as one big brand conglomerate for me. Some are hits and some are losers, some are copies (many) and some aren't too bad origs. Each brand mimmicks on some level I feel to create offerings that sell.

Loved this dial style since it came out 6 months ago or so. Could never get over the hideous Addiesdive branding.

I'm still waiting for them to offer a no-logo version before making a purchase because this is a complete deal breaker for me.

This is the first Chinese watch that I ever bought. Still waiting for mine to arrive and I’m expecting to be mildly disappointed, but for the price how much can one really ask for…
