Have had a one watch collection most of my life. Has been Rolex twice, Seiko twice, Luminox once. Those five watches, one at a time, carried me from 1985 to 2013.

Breguet, Romain Gauthier, MB&F, Jaquet Droz, Patek Phillipe, Vacheron Constantine, Zenith Academy, Grand Seiko and Jaeger-LeCoultre all come to mind as having exceptional pieces that could keep me happy if I could have no other.
Of course in the last three years I have owned some 320+ watches. Currently have around 20 though.
One of the great things about the hobby is the enjoyment of one great watch or dozens of great watches. However my fancy strikes me and as long as is within my means.
I literally just discovered that the Rolex Daytona could quite possibly be the only watch I would ever need to own. I am so smitten with my 116515LN Daytona that I literally don’t care about all my other watches in the collection right now. And for one watch to do that to somebody like me who is a consummate collector of watches is quite the feat.
I mean, by definition, a “collection” can’t include only one thing, so I vote “no,” even though I believe it’s possible to be content with one watch and it makes that watch far more meaningful and connected to the owner when that’s the case. I’m not there myself, but I like the idea of my son remembering a watch I “always” wore and having a sentimental attachment to it the way I remember the old Omega my grandfather would wind every night before bed…
You’re asking a watch community about getting only one watch! Your insane! But I’ll try to answer anyways…it would have to be something different, not a diver or a flieger. Maybe heritage, which now I’m digging a hole I can’t get out of…maybe a panerai? Too douchey? Vintage omega constellation? Eh we’ll it’s basically no you can’t have one watch.

My pick will be the Rorex Explorer 36 mm
If you're on this site frequently, the odds of us having a one watch collection are poor.
One member from the early days had ZERO watches for a few months, got one and then kinda disappeared.
Possible? Yes. Likely? Nope.
