A Watch Collector Confession
As I walked into Windup Watch Fair in NYC on Friday Oct. 20th, it had completely slipped my mind that Jack Mason had a surprise announcement coming. I couldn’t have been less prepared for a Dr. Pepper Strat-o-timer in stunning reds. It was, without question, the first thing to catch my eye.
I had nearly gone through with the purchase of one of the fifty limited edition Watch Crunch Strat-o-timers earlier this year. Only narrowly pulling myself back from the edge with the knowledge that I was soon-expecting a call for a Black Bay 54, and the Strat-o-timer wasn’t quite in the dimensions I prefer. Well, several months later and I’ve got the attractive Dr. Pepper sitting right in front me.
I might as well try it on, right? Just to see if I was wrong to pass up on the WC collab. I’m not buying anything today. It’s fine. What a mistake! It actually fit pretty well. The Dr. Pepper followed me around for the rest of the fair. A couple of weeks later… I couldn’t resist.

I also waffled about the WC LE, before they sold out and I missed the chance, then I saw the Joker Strat-o-timer posted by someone on here, and I had to make a move.
I'm glad I did, I absolutely love the watch, with my only minor grip being that the crown is too small for my tastes.

I didn’t care much for the Strato Timer… until the Dr Pepper was released.

I think it’s a great watch in terms of its design and specifications. Most of the “standard” editions don’t quite do it for me, but I really liked the WC collaboration, and the Dark Night colors work very well. The Dr. Pepper colorway is absolutely killer though.
