Uncle Z199 Bracelet feedback

Hi Crunchers! I’m thinking of getting the Uncle z199bracelet for my Seiko SPB317, Slim Turtle. Has anyone got any experience with this bracelet? How’s the feel and weight? The website did mention that it’s heavy due to better built material.

How does this bracelet compare with the original bracelet (engineer) that comes with the Slim Turtle? I checked with the AD and the original bracelet is all most double Uncle Seiko’s z199.

Would appreciate fellow crunchers’ feedback if you guys have any experiences with either. Thanks in advance!

Not a z199, but a jubilee on my Willard. The end links are very tight to get in, but there's no play at all once properly located.

The bracelet itself is heavy, but not significantly different to the standard bracelet.

Colour is slightly different due to the diashield coating on the head of the watch, but not irritatingly so.

Push pin adjust, which I like as less likely to back out once fitted, easy enough to do too.

Weak point is the clasp- I get it's supposed to be retro, but it's a cheap pressed top cover that feels cheap, & the biggest negative is the friction closure - it's effective but certainly doesn't feel premium.

Imho the standard bracelet (on my other black Willard) is much higher quality overall, especially the clasp closure.

Ironically it's the bulk of the clasp on the Seiko bracelet that's the weakest part of it.

In conclusion, Uncle Seiko bracelet is very similar to the ones used back in the day but not as high quality as your standard Seiko bracelet.

Get one of you want to preserve the standard bracelet (tho it'll scratch far easier because of the lack of diashield) but the route I'm looking at now is a different clasp for the standard Seiko bracelet.

Hope that helps mate 👍🏻

That Slim Turtle is absolutely stunning too 😍👍🏻👍🏻

This watch like mine has dura coating on top of the case and bracelet and that gives them a darker hue colour of the s. steel

The uncle seiko/strapcode ones does not have it and appear lighter in colour

So I guess this mismatch won't be so pleasant

I have a z199 and beads of rice for my willard and a jubilee for my skx so I can compare.

I agree with the people above saying there is no play within the lugs, but that might just be the willard. The SKX is a bit more forgivin.

The clasp on the 199 is pressure fit and although not my favorite system, it has given me no issues. the bracelet is the most comfortable of the three for me, with the jubilee being my least favorite. The jubilee is very heavy compared and I prefer my jubilee's a bit more jangly. This one is too solid and clunky (for me)

TLDR: z199 very comfortable

All agree that it's really comfortable and well made though I'd prefer a different clasp. On the bright side there's 7 micro-adjusts on the clasp.

Thanks for sharing. Yeah that’s the only problem I see with OEM bracelets. Hopefully it won’t be too noticeable should I get it 😅

Thanks for the detailed comparison! I just that in the long run the clasp will last. 🙏

That’s one of the reason I’m deciding going for the z199 the micro adjustments. The original only has 2? It if it doesn’t fit, that’ll be a bummer considering it costs much more vs the z199 thanks for sharing! 🙏

Do it. It is like half the weight of the oem bracelet make wear the turtle on bracelet so much more confortable. Plus small links helps for the perfect fit. The clasp is pressed but it doesn't bother me at all. Actually I like small and light clasp like better. There is really a low risk that it opens by mistake.

Is it a pressure fit clasp?
