yeah its so strange to me that Rolex's way of operating a store front is more like a Potemkin Village than a regular store. the watches might as well not exist if Joe Blow off the street cant be allowed to buy anything. but it seems to work for them so shows what I know.

i just sent my Omega into watchrepair.net. so far they have been wonderful! just waiting to hear back on the cost of replacing the crystal and general clean up of my (thankfully!) running just fine 1916 Omega. So i'm hoping the bill won't be too bad. they sent a wonderful pretty much bomb proof case to mail the watch in. good communications. assuming they can fix my watch and get it back in one piece for not too much money i think i probably have found the best watch repair place.

Rolex have such a head start I think it's wise for other brands to not even try to match Rolex in marketing....which is probably hundreds of millions a year or something insane like that. I think Rolexs price bubble could burst but i'm not sure what it would take really. surely they cannot just keep increasing the price forever right.....right?

Omega for me for all the reasons you gave. Another one for me is the history of Omega and the seemingly solid and uncorrupted, (despite being now owned by a parent corp, the death knell of any good US business lol).

Rolex is fine and dandy, but their business practices make my skin crawl. but maybe b/c i can't spend 50k on watches i don't want to 'build a relationship w/ an AD' to the the 20k watch i actually want. friggin unreal to me that that actually is a thing. becoming wealthy must just rot your brain or something idk. One thing on my bucket list is to visit an Omega store, try on some dream models I might be able to get one day. And i bet the Rolex store probably wont even let me in....and that's fine b/c Rolexs' 'image'/'rob me' signals wearing one puts out is like the nail on the coffin for me on that brand.

lets just hope this was a bad worker having a bad day or something. maybe you were like the 10 person in an hr to try in on and she woke up late and didn't have coffee or something. b/c i love that Omega doesn't seem to care or try to just sell their name for an inflated price and chose instead to sell great watches at reasonable prices. Management has seemed to have played it smart over the year but long time successful companies have a way of shooting themselves in the foot then dying a slow death. there might even be a connection between all the examples....lol

I say Omega all day. Just as good as anything from Rolex for a fraction of the costs, and you can go out and buy the exact watch you'd like that same day; unlike Rolex with the AD list, fake scarcity, pariah way of selling watches. Rolex wants you to buy their name and Crown logo while begging to do so. Insane. And Omega goes back to 1858 or something crazy like that and have such a rich history. I'd say average Joe looking to get a nice watch, get an Omega. Buy for the Andrew Tates, Musks, pretty much any celebrity or rich person (wanna be or not) Rolexs' marketing totally caters to that 'exclusive, premium' crowd. apples and bowling balls. Moon edition of the Speedmaster is my dream Omega.
