Customer service debate. Rolex and Omega are equal.

There has been a long standing hatred toward Rolex customer service…..

But let me tell you, Omega isnt far off.

I sent a brand new speedmaster to get fixed. The second hand was not aligned with the 12:00 position.

The clasp needed to be fixed as well, and came back more damaged. (To their merits, they gave me a new clasp at the boutique).

Waited two weeks, came to pick up the watch. Guess what? Its still not aligned.

Want to know what the response was? “Its within the watch makers tolerance to leave it as it is, i can send it back again if you want - the watch maker can decide to reject it”.

Why would anyone tolerate a defect for an $11,000 watch?

Then you expect me to wait another 2-8 weeks for something i originally requested?

What do you guys think, is this normal?

No experience to say whether it’s normal, but I wouldn’t find it acceptable.

Wow! Completely unacceptable. I hope it’s just an unlucky experience and it gets fixed soon 🤞🏻

Any pics of misalignment of the hands?I wonder how bad is it.

I own 3 Omegas but have not needed to test the official warranty centre here in Toronto yet but won’t accept that explanation, I would go after the original seller to act on my behalf. Additionally that is also why I sort of prefer buying watches from brands where I have knowledge and experience dealing with the company after sales practices. Breitling head office/ repair centre is staffed with persons that I have interacted with in the past and my experiences have been good. I think it matters a great deal when choosing a next watch. The Rolex repair centre is prickly to deal with but professional with repairs just not too great with public relations which is fine with me since I am not looking for friends.

Really sorry to hear you've had bad experiences with Omega. Unfortunately, it's all down to the local boutique and the people that work there.

Having said that, I've had nothing but positive experiences with both Rolex and Omega the world over. I'll caveat this; I've only ever bought from them, I've never had to return or replace anything.

·

That’s terrible. Sorry to hear. I for one, had never had to deal with service centers from either or, but I have dealt with sales reps from Omega who were not so nice.

Let's see pictures

Pics or it didn't happen. lol

I jest, but seeing a picture of the dial would help people decide if they think it's acceptable or not.

i just sent my Omega into watchrepair.net. so far they have been wonderful! just waiting to hear back on the cost of replacing the crystal and general clean up of my (thankfully!) running just fine 1916 Omega. So i'm hoping the bill won't be too bad. they sent a wonderful pretty much bomb proof case to mail the watch in. good communications. assuming they can fix my watch and get it back in one piece for not too much money i think i probably have found the best watch repair place.
