A world record $1.65M USD has been paid at auction for a vintage Cartier London Crash from 1967 🤯
The 18K yellow gold watch was described as being in “excellent original condition”
The previous record stood at $884,972, paid last year at Sotheby’s Geneva for an example from 1970.

As a watch enthusiast I can understand that someone wanted that watch really bad. As a person with a normal 9-5 that will never have that amount of money I find it ridiculous. 😂

I don't know if the design of the Crash was inspired by Salvador Dalí's "Persistencia de la Memoria", it could be as the paint is from 1931 and the original Crash was created in the 1960s.

For that amount of money, I much rather buy a beautiful house and a Dalí inspired art piece.

I can't help but think that this is another money laundering operation. I am on record for having the Cartier Crash on my list of watches I wouldn't wear. In Philadelphia, it's worth fifty bucks.

Thank you for sharing this link.  As I read it, I kept thinking "I'll stop laughing after this one." I was wrong. Funniest piece I've read on any subject in a while.
