Went into Rolex AD

Hi - I went into a rolex AD yesterday - tried on the Ex 36 - and loved it. I really do want to wait to get it at retail - but how long would you guys wait until you pulled the trigger on secondary ? I'd also like to establish buy history from them - they also sell Tudor (which im interested in bb58 eventually) and Patek (which i'm interested in a calatrava or another dress piece eventually).

What do you guys think ?

So they had one to try but not to sell?  And couldn't give you an idea of how long the wait will be? Jesus, what a tease 😅

they are exhibition units. but yeah. Tried on all the rolexes except cellini - which looks like is going to discontinued.

I’ve purchased a Milgauss and an SMP from the same AD in the past, but honestly, I don’t think I’ll do that again Unless it’s one of their preowned. The juice isn’t worth the squeeze to me. There are so many other options out there right now, I kinda feel like ADs will be dying soon. Just my take.

yeah I just have a hard time buying those 2 when i want the exp 36 next. I may just bite the bullet and buy 2ndary

I got the call today for the two-tone Explorer 36 that I went on the wait list for back April when it was first announced. So, my wait was about 7 months. That said, I have a solid relationship with my AD, so it might have been longer if I didn’t have a history with them.

I’ll add that I love the watch. I know 36 mm is controversial, and I know two tone is even more controversial, but I love it. It looks amazing and feels so light on the wrist. I’m thrilled.

I bought a BB58 on a canvas back in April it hoping to get on the “list” of explorer 36. The sale lady didn’t even write down anything or react too much. A few months later I went into the same AD trying to also express interest on 36 DJ and finally got a sale associate’s phone number. Which he only replied once saying “received“.

Funny enough, I really really like my BB58 and stop thinking about even getting anything else from AD. The AD game is just not for me I suppose.

Conclusion, only buy the BB58 if you really like it, enjoy it and wear it.

(Plot twist, recently I found my perfect watch Grand Seiko SBGN005. Which I forfeited a trade with Watchbox for it and went with BB58 in April. Image having my favorite watch 6 months sooner if not for the AD game)

Same happened to me at my local AD. They had a pile of date Justs and BB58. But only to try on but not to buy. Said available on retail hopefully anytime in the next one year. Absolutely crazy. paying for a store security salesmen etc - with literally no sales (unless there’s something im missing n they are catering to their existing clients on the side of YouTube is to be believed)

I recently picked up the 36 MM Explorer. Waited about 2 months for it to come in. Worth the wait to me if you know what you want. Pretty legit that they have all of those mixed brands at one AD. Good luck!

Yes I'm going to check in with the AD after the new year - awesome your wait was only 2 months.
