First watch of 2024

Didn’t take long for me to get a new watch.

Wasn’t planning to buy one so early in the year so it has started earlier than anticipated.

A watch with a porcelain dial is something that has been on my list and when I chanced upon this one in brand new condition, at a price I couldn’t pass on, I just had to get it.

The porcelain dial SPB093/SARW049 joins my enamel dialed SPB047/SARX049. Both watches clearly have the same DNA and yet are so different. Both are beautiful and each dial is interesting in their own way. You just have to have them in hand to truly appreciate the nature of the materials.

A curious thing about the SPB093 is that it looks slightly smaller (both side by side and on wrist) than the SPB047 even though the case diameter of the SPB093 is marginally larger than the SPB047 (0.1mm larger).

So much for not buying new watches and keeping my collection manageable… there is work to do yet!

Gorgeous 😍

Love the read 12 at the top of the dial. You usually see red flare on the bottom of the dial in the writing or something like that but a red XII just looks killer

Yeah! There are other Presage models with the red 12 and it was a consideration when I got this particular model.

Porcelain has that shiny creaminess which gives an amazing light play. Congratulations on such a beautiful piece

Thank you! It’s a unique look that only watch nerds will appreciate. 99.9% of the population would just see a white/off white dial. 😆

I'm still quite a novice to a lot of the more technical aspects of this lifestyle. I've quickly learned to appreciate the diversity of materials that make these pieces beautiful.

Yeah. I too am a novice, though I have been fascinated by properties of materials being a bit of a science geek as a child - plus reading Mechanical Engineering in University does expose you and make you appreciate materials and their properties even more.
