Really, really need to go Scuba Diving again real soon but to cold for that malarkey here in the Scotland at the moment. So it in the Office & after a quick edit... I can almost smell the Sea & feel the water ๐

I try not to even ride my motorbike in the rain, nevermind getting myself deliberately wet & cold.
I'm not that brave ๐๐
Cool tho , kudos mate ๐๐ป
PADI open water here too, Iโm a fair weather diver and only dive where there is coral and nice fish so none of that gravel pit in the UK rubbish ๐คฃ
Your from Micronesia you don't know the meaning of cold ๐คฃ๐คฃ๐คฃ

Deep water diver and nitrox certified
Desk diver now. 45 years ago a different story lol
I took the beginner's PADI course with my wife and love it! Took our seiko diver couple's watch for the trip.
No plans to get to a higher level though. It was a great enough experience on its own but the venue is a bit far from us (requires at least 2 days off work) and i have shark phobia from movies ๐คช
Iโve been certified but havenโt been in the water for many years
Thank you. I will be ordering some!
Desk diver all the way. Looking forward to a snorkel or two on my Turks trip in September tho.
So does a PADI cert make someone a โreal diver โ? If u Put Another Dollar In (PADI) you get the certification. Itโs not the certifications that matter, but if you are a safe diver and not going to endanger others. Got my tri mix cert from IANTD, Key West Divers in the early 90โs. Last dive was on the U-869 to 70m. I was a decent diver. Gave it up when my daughter was born, I never saw anyone with a dive watch. Only had my open water cert. Got two MK 14 units in my basement I am holding for a friend.
I meant the word real as in do you actually go Scuba Diving nothing more. PADI was what was on offer in the Maldives when I wanted to learn the skills & it was an amazing week of Diving & learning opportunity taught by amazing instructors from all over the world extremely Professional. If I wanted to learn here then it would have been BSAC Certified but it's to cold & can't see shit in the North Sea until you swim into it ๐คฃ๐คฃ๐คฃ
Thanks for the clarification. With a nice dry suit and argon gas you will be plenty warm. Diving Scapa Flow was on my bucket list. There are lots a great instructors who want to turn out properly trained divers. Glad you found some professionals.

After our third time doing the NC500 (absolutely stunning by the way) I have fancied diving some of the Lochs especially the remote ones on our next time around. Could have popped over to the Orkneys in 40 minute's on the Ferry from John O' Groats but the weather was terrible so decided not to bother this time around.
Situational awareness is key and knowing your limitations. The more dives you get the more proficient you become as a diver. Finding a dive shop with good instructors is crucial. Had a bad experience with a dive master grabbing my primary reg in a panic. Luckily my primary was on a long hose and my backup was on my neck. He almost killed me with his rapid ascent to the surface. I went to the shop who certified him and asked how they would certify such a danger. Reply โ he paid the $โ. Dove with a few dive masters with over a 1000 fives each. In both instances they gave the charter boat captain their advance open water cards.
Desk diver here. My brother though, is a real commercial diver. He's done everything; instruction, search and rescue, and underwater construction on offshore oil rigs. He's the one who got me into dive watches!

Commercial divers are the only ones that regularly use dive watches, especially the saturation divers. Used to know divers who dive in nuclear reactors for a living. May reach out to find out what they wore.
I own quite a few diving watches but I have never never been diving. Medical and financial reasons have made it impossible. But I still love dive watches.
Kind of surprised to see a real diver wearing an Addisdive Tuna Homage. I have the Steeldive Emperor Tuna myself.

I never wear a watch Diving no need really as I would wear a Dive Computer Watch with alarms & Navigational functions ETC. Just wanted to see if anyone actually goes Scuba Diving
I would be wearing something like this is as its far more appropriate to wear rather than a simple Divers Watch.
Addiesdive watches are ๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฅ for the money by the way ๐
My dive watches, such as they are.

I had read somewhere that deep saturation divers may still wear watches I donโt know if thatโs true or not but thatโs with the articles I read had said.

My brother says that they all wear dive computers now, but a watch is still a good backup.
Sadly.
Yes. PADI advanced open water and NITROX. Need a retirement place in a tropical environment.
