Swimming with a Watch

Do you wear a watch when you swim? If so, what is your favorite swimming watch and why?

Until recently, I never wore a watch in the pool or the ocean, but in the past 6 months I've worn my Certina diver and Traska Venturer GMT in the ocean. It was nice to trust that both watches would perform well and both meet expectations.

I've swum in the sea in lots of mine for example Casio dual sensor Vostok amphibia , Orient Kamasu, Citizen Ray Mears. Basically any of them that have 100m or more resistance and /or a screw down crown. I've bought a Pelagos recently and when I get back down to the beach ( North Sea) that will be going in too!

I like to rotate, but if I am travelling, more times than not it is a Sub. Pool? Garmin. I have attempted several times to use my SMP at the beach as I prefer the rubber strap when in the ocean, but what many ignore is the bezel on the SMP is already challenging to move. Forget to wash it after spending the day at the beach? Forget it.

Why would I need a watch if I'm in the water?

So you don’t miss happy hour? 🍻

I personally only buy watches with 100m wr or better, just to make sure I don’t need to worry about it.

I actually bought this piece when we started my daughter's swim lessons because I wanted to be able to keep track of time in the pool. It has regularly performed that function for me since then.

How's the Traska doing with the water? I was very interested in it (especially for the money) but didn't like that it was rated to 150m rather than 200.
