Bulova Accutron mystery purchase

I won a biding contest recently on Ebay and purchased a vintage Bulova Accutron dated from the 70's. I am still waiting for the watch to be delivered from US but it is unclear to me what is the exact model of the watch. The seller after asking him a couple of times claims that the watch is "its a model 2180 movement (his exact words)". I am almost certain that this is the calibre and not the actual model number. My dear watch nerd friends can you please help me identify the model if you are aware of this era accutron bulovas? Thanks a lot for your help 🙏

Sketchy looking to me. I don't see the Alpha/numeric date code on the case back that they used from , at least, the 50's plus the 218's I've seen have the crown at 4 o'clock. Definately have it checked out when you get it.

Exactly this is what I was looking for, the alpha/numeric date code on the back. This was purchased by a known seller with 100% reputation on Ebay so I just hope it is original

That is a beautiful watch though! Reminds me of the recent 1975 Q re-issue from Timex. Hope this one works out for you man! 👍

This was my grandfathers, it appears to be the same model but with a different dial. I know for a fact he purchased it himself new sometime in the 70’s. I noticed that on yours the Boluva logo is at 12 whereas mine is at 6, yours also has no day/date. I know next to nothing about these though.

I have found some online also with the red dial, so in general it seems legit to me, perhaps it has a new dial?

I love your grandfather's Accutron. It is really beautiful with this deep red dial and looks stunning. Powerful photo also 👌. I am eager to receive mine and have it checked by my watchmaker. I will update you hopefully with positive news 🙏

Does anyone know, the Bulova Precisionist movement, is that from Accutron originally? Is that an Accutron movement?

I know that both the original Accutrons and the Precisionist have this smooth seconds hand movement that makes you think they are automatic but I don't know if they are the same. Maybe part of the technology is the same but someone with better knowledge of those movements could tell us

For comparison, this is a similar watch in my collection. My grandfather’s 1975 Bulova Accutron. A retirement gift from his job. 34mm case. 17mm lug. Very thin, not sure of the thickness but it looks like the same case as yours. The letter N on the caseback indicates 1975. M would be 1976 ect. Great watch, keeps excellent time but eats batteries bc you can’t buy the correct mercury battery anymore.

N=70's

N5=1975

N6=1976

"M" followed by a number indicates the 60's
