Erebus is here!

I am a long way away from Australia, it has been annoying watching all of the content when mine was still on the way...

paid for this in 2023 so technically I still haven't bought a watch in 2024...

Quick and dirty strap fashion show, I think you can see that there is a pattern with my white dial dive style watches...

I may have bought a few straps for the Origin earlier...

Pros:

Very happy with the overall look and feel of the watch.

Solid caseback is very nice, NH35 is not a movement I want to look at.

Curved H-link bracelet is solid and well finished.

Toolless micro adjustable clasp is a boon for me as I swell towards the evening.

2 watch travel case it comes in is nice, I prefer this to any type of cardboard or wooden box, they just sit in the closet, this I might have use for.

Moans and niggles:

Dial, the dial is more silver than pure white, especially in strong light.

The straps are not very good... Especially the NATO feels very cheap. The textured Strap feels dainty for such a robust watch, the smooth one is my favorite.

Conclusion:

For the approximate 450€ I paid for this with strap pack, taxes and duties I am very happy.

I think it's going on the white presumably FKM strap if not on bracelet.

Also, should have bought the orange. Or Teal.

Gone with the parachute 👍

I agree with you about the colour. Not what I expected.

Yes, that looks good. I have a similar strap, but worse lighting. 😆

I too was one of the last to get mine as it arrived about 30 minutes ago.

I was reasonably relaxed waiting as I wanted to be in for the delivery (so my wife didn’t clock it!).

I was torn between the black and the yellow and went for the yellow as my name is coming up for the Helm Vanuatu v soon, which will be black dial.

A bit like your experience of the white dial, the yellow has a gold metallic sheen in certain lights but - for me - that’s an unexpected bonus.

I got the flat H link bracelet and was a bit worried about it as my wrists are small. But it’s great and the sizing screwdriver was a real help as it was a perfect fit for the screws. Sizing was a bit of a pain as a couple of the screws would only screw into the link they came out of but it didn’t take too long. I will likely keep mine on the bracelet.

From a design perspective, the only nit I have is that the knurling on the crown could have been better.

From a manufacturing and QC perspective, taking account of the price, I haven’t noticed any shortcomings - my bezel aligns perfectly, etc.

So certainly I am a happy customer and wish them well with whatever comes next.

Hope you settle on a great strap combination and enjoy yours! I think they still have some for sale if you fancy another colour way.

Love the cat too.

Vivienne thanks for your compliment, your house panther seems dashing as well.

I don't think I will buy another colourway of this watch, I'm leaning towards the JDM field GMT from Seiko or the ocean of storms Swatch for my 1st. purchase of the year.

Now that you mention it the knurling does seem rather basic. It didn't bother me when winding and setting the watch but didn't impress me either.

You can get a second one for preorder price still :)

I kinda dig the textured strap

To be fair, I bought the strap pack so I can have signed hardware on a strap of my choosing. 🙂

Colour matching strap is the way to go! It does look good and is very comfortable.

·

I'm genuinely considering buying a second one, probably orange or yellow. Little bit scared of what my wife would say, though.

I might hit up StrapsCo for a fitted rubber or something but I really like these options. I hadn't tried to NATO but the texture seems a bit rough compared to a seat belt style.

I got the red one with the strap pack. The straps are really very generic. Not worth it.

As I said, price of the signed hardware. 😆

But I am not right in the head when it comes to these things...

I got the same watch and it seems like we both got them about a week or so after they got shipping. Did we just become best friends. Lol

Here’s a pic where I almost captured the gold sheen on the dial, which is both unexpected and pleasing.

Glad yours arrived - eventually!
