My Beater - Tissot Gentleman: Nice but difficult to remove Bracelet

Wanted to get an inexpensive but reliable watch when wearing more expensive luxury watches is not safe or appropriate for an occasion. Picked this Tissot Gentleman. It is a beautiful watch for everyday and everything. It goes well with jeans and casual wear.

I got the steel bracelet version and bought the official leather strap too, thinking that I can swap between the two according to the need of the occasion. But both spring bars are so tight, and I have not been able to remove the bracelet even with the right tool. Even if I can finally remove it, changing between the bracelet and the strap turns out to be not as easy as I thought. It is no longer viable to think of changing the style while on the go. Although I really like how it looks with the leather strap as shown on the stock photo, I am going to just live with the bracelet. But I'll keep the strap. Perhaps in the future when I have got tired of the bracelet and want to change the style, I can go to a watch repair shop for help.

Great choice! It's a classic watch style that goes with pretty much anything.

·

Only have to remove it once... 😉

The springbars can't be that strong.

I don't mean to change it to the strap permanently. Was thinking of changing between the two from time to time according to what I need in a particular day. It is very difficult to remove the spring bars.😕

Some also said the same in the above YouTube comment section. I don't know.. Perhaps this is an issue for a few production batches.

But thank you for looking up the above information for me! 🤝

Try the new T-Touch strap, it fits perfectly on the gentleman and is one of the most comfortable straps, i've ever seen.

Thanks for the tips! The official leather strap for this watch is fine. The problem is that I can't remove the bracelet from the watch.... No matter what I do with the strap tool, the spring bars simply won't move. I guess I'll live with the bracelet.. in any case, the watch does look amazing with the bracelet.

I'm done with bracelets. I've never found one as good as a good strap. 😁

I'm not sure it's any more difficult than any other well fitting non-quick change bracelet on a watch without drilled lugs that I have... which is to say it's an utter pain in the ass.

I wasn't a great fan of the fit of the bracelet, even though it's a great looking one, so I've left it on a strap for ages now.

Maybe your springbar removal tool isn't fine enoug to catch the springbar's spring loaded end:

For me it`s much easyer to remove spring bars with a small (!) 2mm flat tip screw driver instead of using my (not so god) spring bar tool. You may give it a try.

That’s a very good advice! I’ll surely give it a try! Thanks again!

Nice strap! The color of your strap makes the dial stand out more. It is strange that the official strap for this watch has the quick change feature. Not sure why there is none on the bracelet on the other hand. Perhaps the bracelet was designed much earlier than the strap.

I'm with you on this, as I also prefer leather strap over bracelet. I have only a few watches with bracelet, just to give me variety. Majority of my watches are with leather strap.

But for an everyday/everytime watch, I think a steel bracelet or a rubber strap is a better choice, as I don't have to worry about it in a wet situation or even get the watch into water.

I found this bracelet a little bit loose and wish that it has micro adjustment, but not sure if this is a reasonable expectation for this price range though.

Nice pick! I like the Tissot Gentleman

I prefer this way more than the Prx! Wonderful watch!

Try a spring bar pliers tool

Yes, totally agree. The Gentleman is more versatile.

Thanks for the advice. Will take a look! 👍

·

Way more versatile and classy than the PRX imo

·

like it more with a strap instead of the bracelet.

but that’s only my opinion 🙃
