Merkur blue sunburst

A few weeks ago I polled crunchers which Merkur to get. The blue sunburst won the poll, and I received it on Wednesday afternoon. It is a handwinder, 21600 beats (which it even says on the dial), 38mm diameter, hands are loomed. When viewed in dim light the dial looks more black than blue and the blueness only really shines in the sun.

There was one slight issue: the watch comes on a canvas strap, a really nice one, but the strap is a bit on the long side for my 6.5 inch wrist: I end up in the last hole, and as the keeper positions are fixed the end of the strap sticks out. So I put this this on this black & blue rubber strap which was in my strap reserve. It is comfy and it suits the watch but it is a dust magnet, so I'll get myself something else.

The back is solid with an image of the Chinese wall, and some Chinese text - not written using Chinese characters but Latin transliterations of Chinese characters, which is a bit weird.

I had a look at the instruction boolet of how to take care of your watch, which has sections in quite a few languages. One can tell that the English version was not written by a native speaker, but it is comprehensible. The German version is comedy gold though, way worse than what you would get from google translate.

Nice! I like it when Chinese brands display their heritage and culture on their products, even if it is sometimes hard for us to understand. Congratulations

That's nice!!!

Love my Merkur - agreed that the dial colours tend to be a little darker than pictured, if I ordered another one I would probably get this one in salmon (which looks too light in pictures). Very glad to hear that the "21600" is accurate, I think bph measurements always look classy on a dial but it would drive me insane if it was wrong!

As for the quality of the German language translation... I can only imagine...

Nice buy and great watch. I was aware of Merkur but just looked at their website. Some lovely designs there.

Well, I bought it on AliExpress. It is usually (one exception: Baltany) cheaper to buy on Ali than on a manufacturers website. In this case, the watch is $119 on the Merkur website, $101 on Ali. On top of that you would have to add shipping cost, and Ali is always cheaper, for this watch the Ali shipping was actually free (for me), while the cheapest shipping option on the Merkur website is $20.
