Seiko 6139 Pogue, one of the coolest chronographs of all time!

Seiko 6139 is notable for being one of the first automatic chronograph watches in the world (If not being the first one?!). Seiko succeeded in integrating the chronograph with a day-date, with no running seconds and only one sub-register at 6 o’clock in a now iconic C-case. Especially cool and rare is this JDM example, made in March 1969.

In 1973, Colonel William Pogue went to space as a part of the Skylab 4 mission for 84 consecutive days. He brought his Seiko 6139 with him, making it the first automatic chronograph in space. It was a Yellow dial version.

All of this makes 6139 one of the coolest chronographs of all time!

That's a badass watch!

I'm also a 6139 fan!! Absolutely love the look, style and history. I'm not big on the newer Seikos and haven't replaced the one I sold long ago but, I would have no problem filling a box with 3169. Been keeping a eye out and when the time is right I'll get that first gen Pogue but until then, I'm not to proud to get a Detroit Mint homage or the Islander version. Would be nice if Mark would do a 40 or 41mm version 🤔

one of the best looking watches of all time, will grab one once I find a really good condition one for a good price

I prefer the Citizen Bullhead (Panda). They are both funky and from the same era 😊

Agree with everything you said about the Pogue!  Those candy colors that were available back in the day were eye catching and brilliant.  I'm partial to the 6138-xxxx series, I own a few of them including this pilot version that beloged to my dad.
