Yes it’s an homege but I made it

Whenever I stat an hobby my brain goes nuts and I want to study every facet of it, so a month ago I decided that I wanted to make a watch from scratch, I opened AliExpress and i started searching for some pieces to assemble my timepiece. I did avery possible combinations but at the end I opted for something coherent because some of the combinations were a little bit to much. And here it is my almost fifty fathoms, not original but mine!

I opted for a nh35 as a movement because it served me well in other watches.

I have to say that I’m proud of this little toy!

You made it?

I’m a self proclaimed hater on homages and clones, but if you made it…then it’s a piece unique and I love it.

It’s a beautiful build

I don’t like clones too but in this case it was simpler to find pieces that goes well together taking inspiration from what is already done by others. It was a test! Now that I know that I can make it the next one will be something really unique!

Hey, I wasn’t criticizing your watch. I think it’s cool to build things. And you did a great job.

My issue with clones is the fakeness - and mostly the people who wear them and pretend they are either getting one over the man or trying to flex with a fake.

If you get a kit. Make a one off. And use it to tinker and play with. Improve your skill. Etc. Good on you.

It’s not like your trying to make them to sell.

I think what you’re doing is perfectly acceptable and quite cool actually. Love it

Of course, I was not offended at all. I 100% agree with your point I don’t like that people flex fake watches too. I find fake watches useless, I think that collecting watches don’t necessarily mean having only Rolex, Patek, AP ecc… not everyone have that budget and there nothing to be ashamed of. Vintage, microbrand, seiko and others are as good and you don’t flex something that you can’t afford.
