San Maqua Terra 38mm Review

Another San Martin homage that peaked my interest since I’ve always considered adding an aqua terra to the collection but wasn’t sure if I’d like the arrow hands and indices and lyre lugs. I was very impressed with my first SM so I was curious to see if this model lived up to expectations.

CASE:

The case dimensions are 38mm, 12.6mm thick, 45mm lug to lug, and 20mm lug width. Absolutely perfect dimensions for slimmer to medium wrists. The lyre lugs are executed very well with brushing on top and polishing on the sides. The only thing I would prefer is a slightly slimmer bezel. It looks a bit too thick for a 38mm case.

DIAL:

The dial has a silver sheen to it with blue arrow hands and indices. Everything looks sharp and precise. I’ve been very impressed with SM’s quality control and execution lately. I really like that the seconds track has red and blue numerals to give it a pop of color. The date wheel single digit numerals do seem a bit large for the window but that might just be me.

BRACELET:

The bracelet is extremely comfortable. The links are on the shorter side so they articulate around your wrist perfectly. I love that it’s all brushed except for the sides. All the links are solid with screw pins. The clasp has the glide lock micro adjustment which functions smoothly and is very convenient to have.

MOVEMENT:

The watch is powered by the trusty Seiko NH35. The winding is smooth and it’s keeping accurate time. Not much more to say about that.

FINAL THOUGHTS:

Another very well executed, value packed homage by San Martin. It wears so comfortably with its compact lug to lug and smooth articulating bracelet. Everything looks so precise and sharp. A great watch for those who don’t want to dish out $5k for an AT or for those who are on the fence and want to test the waters before taking the plunge. For me, I’ll probably be parting with this watch since I have others coming in and have a strict 6 watch rule haha.
