Grand Seiko “Tatami”

I recently fell into the GS rabbit hole, especially after our trip to Japan last year, and stumbled upon this gem. It’s nick named the “tatami” in reference to the tatami floors in formal Japanese rooms. This limited piece (1,500) is their 10yr spring drive anniversary release. The textured is so dynamic in the metal and the polishing is other worldly. I’m constantly staring at it when it’s on the wrist. The bracelet’s okay but it looks better with the blue delugs leather straps. It brings out the blue second & reserve hand. *Easter Egg* Seiko Lion in the top right quadrant.

Great dial, would perfectly pair with shirts

I like this much more than those flaky looking dials of theirs.

Yeah the blue really pops. I just realized the “Spring Drive” text is blue too

Grand Seiko = pure class

Thank you. It was a 2014 limited run, probably why it hasn’t popped up on anyone’s rotation.

Stunning. Beautiful. Is it an older watch? I notice the Seiko/Grand Seiko, is that still the case for JDM Grand Seiko’s?

The most beautiful Grad Seiko!

It was a 2014 limited release for the 10yr anniversary of the spring drive. I don’t think Grand Seiko text was placed at the top until later. The early GS Branding was at the bottom
