Almost but not quite!

As the count increases, I am at last becoming more selective in what I buy. There are quite a few I might have pulled the trigger on in the past that today I wouldn’t. Here are some:

Hamilton PSR - VERY nearly bought this! Great looking watch, solves the big issue with LED. Reminds me of when I was a kid, rocking my Texas Instruments! But I fear I would tire of it once the novelty wore off.

Mido Ocean Star GMT. Underrated brand, very sharp looking and a true GMT for under £1k! But I don’t think I could pull off 44mm and the bracelet has polished centre links

Oris Big Crown Pointer Date. Lots of vintage features and cool date complication. Some great colours. Should probably have bought the red one l saw discounted well below £1k. Not quite sure when/if I would I wear it?

Zodiac Sea Wolf 53 Skin. Great history, sharp vintage looks, good price for what you’re getting and no date! But there are too many divers I like. This may yet make it!

Sinn U50 full tegimented. Unique Sinn diver looks in a smaller case. Cool hardened steel technology. Probably just the 3 o’clock date?

Do you have watches you’ve hankered after for a long time but something (other than everyone’s problem, limited money) means it will probably never quite make it into you collection? What is it that stops you?

Omega Dynamic III Marui, too damn expensive for what you are getting, also at least twice (or thrice?) the price of a regular Dynamic III, and for that money, I can buy an used SM300 or something far better watches.

Most divers and generally stuff with a date. Absolutely hate that pointless complication!! Can only tolerate it on my Willards because it's so small I can ignore it on them....

I’m a fan of the Zodiac as well. What always stops me from pulling the trigger is how people complain the bracelet clasp makes the bracelet a little uncomfortable or unwieldy to people with 6.75” wrists or smaller.

I don’t want to take a gamble on this watch only to learn that the bracelet doesn’t really fit me.

That, and I’m back on another “I love Seiko” kick.

Yeah I have that Zodiac on my list as well, love the red lume!

I have one. It's the Grand Seiko SBGE253/255/257. I like all three, black, blue and green. I've almost bought the watch 4-5x in the past 2-3 years. But there are two things that keep holding me back.

First, the watch is 14.7mm thick. I've had it on wrist, a LOT. It wears fine, way better than a 14.7mm thick watch should. I just worry that over time I'll find the watch top heavy, or bump it into doors or things like that.

Second, the dial. It's not textured. This is my big hangup. How can I possibly get my first Grand Seiko and not buy a watch with what the brand is known for, which are textured dials?

I'm probably never getting this watch. This keeps holding me back.

Such a funny hobby. I'm the exact opposite. Every complication other than a date I find virtually worthless, but I cannot buy a watch without a date. I use that function all the time.

A lot of times it is as simple as seeing a watch in person does not live up to the expectation from looking at pictures on the Internet so no sale.

IWC Mark series….pretty watch but man they’re expensive for a very simple watch without any kind of chronometer certification.

Longines Spirit…I really want to like these because they seem to be the perfect pilot watch and Longines has more aviation street cred than IWC (imo). But I’ll be infatuated with the watch for a bit and then be like NOPE! It’s just missing that “it factor.”

I was like that with IWC Spitfire. Was really keen but seeing it in person left me cold.

Yes the Certina DS ACTION GMT has all the bells and whistles and is a great value just cant take the ride with it

I've got the red dial Oris, and it's a beauty. I kinda wish I'd held off on buying it though, as I'm eyeing the green dial bronze beauty now. I know exactly what your talking about though, as I'm currently saving for either a Rolex Explorer or BB58.

Same watch different reason, I just hate the LONGINES on the clasp (and better adjustment I think at that price)

Sternglas Naos Quartz. I like Bauhaus, but can a dial be too minimalist?

Nice looking watch. Like the saucer case back. The red one is nice!
