I like a fluted bezel, which one?

Looking for a good option for mostly daily as in like 3-4 days a week or occasions. For the record I don’t consider the Cellini too dressy, your outfit and vibe can temper it. It’s also 50m WR and may see a dunk in the drink if I choose that one. I love the understatedness of the Cellini (yes, there are other prob better watches in this range). Torn between metal color, dial, and date or no date cleanliness on this one. Concerns are it is borderline dressy and a bargain from retail, but there inherently better watches for the money (JLC, GO, Vintage…). Also, I like the 1908, but budget and then watches in that range again.

The Omega is kind of like the one Omega I’d have a go at with now, that Tungsten bezels is the cats meow and a great complicated movement. Love the on trend, but timeless green and script on the dial. It however is best on a strap and I’d try to get the mesh bracelet, not the Globemaster bracelet. Concern is thick and heavy, just big. Features and specs place it in sport watch category.

DJ, I’m leaning two tone, bc I like gold, but price diff of stainless is big and the green dial on the DJ is gorgeous. The DJ on jubilee bracelet sings to me, so comfortable, I had the continuous jubilee SS with blue dial, it was a hair too simple for the $, thinking the new bracelet/clasp and either the green or two tone, plus tweaked proportions will be the ticket (looking at 36mm). Concerns are $ for the two tone, and even though I have a smaller all gold DJ on President is the fluted jubilee combo of the new variants too bling, especially in two tone? Edit: for the record on the DJ, I’m u decided on the dial, I just threw the Wimbledon up as the pic was decent.

Which one say you Crunchers?

Thanks.

(Changed up some photos of DJ options since people were getting hung up on the Wimbledon dial), it wouldn’t be my first pick.

Rose gold Cellini, or the new 1908.

Like the “cleaner” Cellini by a billion miles over the other three choices, but I’m a “cleaner” dial fan across the board.

I am growing into a simpler cleaner guy by the day, they make the clean Roman dial in the Cellini in white or rose gold, any preference there?

The green Omega annual is beautiful, and more of a unique choise 👌🏻

Can’t go wrong with a DJ, especially the Wimbledon dial 👑

For something to wear on a regular basis and that is versatile, the DJ and GM are the options I'd choose. I own both and find both to be smart fits for any occasion. Both are never leaving my collection. Instead of the 1908 or Cellini I'd definitely move upstream.

·

For me, any of those other than the 1908 lol

Interesting that you have both. Do you mind if I ask which GM and DJ (size and color/metal) do

You find the GM wears “big”?

I have a ton of other pieces, but I like the idea of more versatile piece. With a lot of my watches I feel like they are in categories. Dive watches, dress pieces, quartz, active casual, field/pilot…. Kind of missing just “a watch”, ya know?

I have the annual calendar GM, silver dial, blue strap. I have the Azzurro blue DJ41 (smooth bezel and oyster). I don't find that the GM wears too big despite it being on the thicker side and longer L2L. The dial and bezel have some great dynamics going on and the crystal isn't flat which makes it look thicker. My wrist is nearly 7.5" though.

And that's kind of what I go after, all around watches that are sporty which kind of fits my nature. I'd definitely avoid buying by trying to fill categories that aren't necessary. I focus on what looks good and that I'll enjoy wearing any time.

That’s what m transitioning to more, just simple enjoyable to wear pieces that fit my style, not a style. I think previously I was trying to balance the box by checking boxes. I’ve surprisingly figured out that 7 out of 10 times I’m a leather strap guy, the other three would be bracelet, rubber, and technical strap like nato or Kevlar/sail cloth.

I’m about a 7” wrist, a tad flatter than round or oval.

I have a 42mm Norqain that I’d say wears as comfortable or better than my Sub, but then again, I have a 31mm DJ on President that I like to wear too. I really enjoy ,y Grand Taille size Reverso and Cartier Santos XL for some other references. Thinking the GM could be a really nice middle of the road addition and I love that you never ever see them.

I think that strategy works. I'm leather or rubber on 7 out of my core 10. I keep Rolex on bracelet.

I'd probably go for the Globe Master (perhaps my favorite Omega) of your choices or a Parmigiani Fleurier if you can swing the budget. The Tonda PF and the Tonda GT lines both have excellent fluted bezel options.

But I really wanted to comment to say that you deserve better than the Wimbledon's lume application. It hurts my soul.

Nice collection. Wow that's quite a difference in sizes. Sounds like we have similar collections. Yes definitely try on the GM. And yes, it's not one you see often and one of the two most complimented. Definitely try it on several times.

A datejust for sure, but not that one. It's one of the ugliest DJ they've ever made. It will age horribly.

Otherwise the Globemaster, though it is a little thick, as you said.

·

That Omega annual calendar is sublime. Also, you’ll never scratch that tungsten.

·

Seems like Gokbemaster is out front followed by a different dial DJ.

This could eb a two step or two piece acquisition, maybe not at the same time, but within 1-2 years of each other could happen dollar wise.

Sounds like the Cellini is the least loved, it is an all gold Rolex 🙄

Which DJ, two tone or SS, I have a an all gold with gold jubilee dial smaller DJ, looking for a darker dial maybe here in 36mm

I am anti-gold across the board (including trying to get rid of all the brass/bronze finishes in my house), so I might not be the guy to give a fair answer. Exception only for my wedding ring.

Will probably have to travel. My AD is Mayors and they are renovating their current space, so they are in a downsized location, but I’ve never seen one in their cases. I’ll be in Atlanta or Nashville soon enough or south Florida and can try an Omega boutique.

Yep there is a Mayors (and Omega boutique) here in Atlanta and I think King's Jewelers in Nashville have Omega too. Curious to hear what you think about it. The 39 may fit better but I just don't find it as attractive. It works for others though. Good luck!

Yep, I’ve purchased from King Jewelers before, I believe they just opened an IWC boutique, so I’ll be distracted by that I’m sure.

I may be in the minority but I am a Cellini fan, however you can never go wrong with a Datejust. Quite a toss up between those two.

·

OMEGA

Just called a couple of ADs and finding a Globemaster in stock or avail is proving difficult.

I like the one you have listed now. SS or SS with white gold bezel, slate/olive/blue dials are all really classy without looking too formal. All gold is 🔥, but a totally different beast of course. I don't like two tone on a dayjust, it's the ultimate grandpa watch.

·

Local AD will bring the Globemaster in, but they want a 20% refundable deposit. I don’t really want either side to go through that trouble, I’m just at the beginning of this purchase/piece so I could wait 1-4 months until I’m at an Omega boutique.

Appreciate the feedback.

I had a SS fluted bezel on jubilee before with sticks, I liked it a lot but it was before they tweaked case and added the new clasp, I always looked at it and it don’t light my fire. I’m normally a sucker for Blue dials, my first proper watch was blue. I was thinking the green or two tone with the new clasp would be the pop I was looking for or maybe a Turnigraph with red date and second hand with rotating bezel.

Im a huge fan of the Omega Constellation, but if those particular models are the ones you have in mind, then my favorite is the green dial date just 😘🤌🏼

Thank you, I recently tried on the green SS DJ and two tone yellow DJ. I still haven’t seen the Omega in any iteration in person.

The green was very pretty. It was different than I expected, but still very appealing.
