How'dy cruncher's
Need to come up with excuses for the missus soon, she's in pretty good form for now but I've taken delivery of this majestic box from Japan and this is what is inside.... The plan is to get the movement's out and clean thoroughly, bracelets included ... How I get that integrated bracelet off the GS is another thing.... ideas?
The wife will ask how much.. and there's another box on the way, I did get a teddy bear so need to use this as redemption.
The GS has a blotch on the dial which is a bit worrying, maybe it's dust that can be removed, time will tell.
I don't know how to tell her there is another box coming...

Connie..,[don't ask] I assumed this line character was something you could dangle from a rear view mirror (per my own car, got this in Japan a long long time ago.)unless you are driving a mining excavator it doesn't look like it..
Tell her it’s a snack box from Japan

Bento box to be more accurate 😂

I was thinking a snack box like from SakuraCo
I manage to get the smaller packages in without a problem, but if a watch has a big presentation box then I'm in trouble

Ah! Gotcha
Wasting no time, I've given up on removing the bracelet of the GS but it's getting cleaned and I'm so pleased to see the dial intact - with luck it should come out sparkling like it was in 1988
That Superior quartz is pretty cool!

A serious 230k Yen watch back in the day, to put into perspective you would do well to earn 100k Yen a year back then .. I can't remove the back lid however, it's a press fit but no visible notch - I'm thinking it's a front loader there's no information on these on the interweb .
What is she a fan of?
Then explain to her "it like that"
Maybe?

if you can afford it, it makes you happy & you take proper care, it should be okay
Just my thoughts, take it with a grain of salt

What are you using to clean the case? Doesn’t look like a sonic cleaner, that’s for sure!

I prefer old school methods... like the watches themselves

Looking good! Old school definitely works 😊 but what are you using 🤔

The magic formula of vinegar and baking powder, leave overnight and admire your hard work - these watches are high quality stainless steel and so forth so it's pretty easy to bring them out shining like this - I have not told the wife yet so they are still hiding in the solution away from her eyes..

Hmm, that’s nice. I might have to try and do that to some of my crusty old watches this weekend 🤣 good luck with the wife 🤞
I've taken the Vanac and GS out of my secret cleaning formula and pleased with how they look, especially the GS - it looks like brand new - I'm not a watchmaker, far from it - so need to take my time and put these back together. The Seiko Superior is beyond me as the back case looks sealed and there's zero information on the web about these so that's off to a watchmaker...
The Vanac is from March 1970, The GS August 1988.
Yikes 😳
