Grandfathers Rolex

He gave this watch to my dad when he went to college and my dad recently found it in storage and gave it to me. Don’t think this beauty has ever been serviced and while I could care less about accuracy, I would like to replace the crystal. Can anyone tell me what to expect when it comes to pricing and other information that may be useful when it comes to servicing a vintage Rolex.

Great looking watch with a great family history. I recently had a Rolex Cellini Prince undergo a full service through Rolex, for a cost of $850 CAD plus tax, which would work out to about $650 USD at current exchange rates. I would expect a full service for that one to be similar, plus the cost of the replacement crystal. Service time was about 2 months from drop off at the AD to being back in my hands.

It's not cheap to send it off to Rolex. I have a date just that's been Rolex serviced 3 time s. I beat the hell out of it. Each time better part of 1k.

That is lovely... Worth it

That is a very gorgeous arrowhead rollie. Don't trust anyone except Rolex to service that. Contact them first and just bite the bullet on the service cost because it is worth doing it right on this fantastic piece.

I don't have any good advice for you, but I wanted to say that this is an amazing piece, what a great story and great heirloom this is.

Very nice, enjoy!

Really fantastic Rolex, not one you see often. In fact this is my first time seeing this one. Like others have said, I'd bite the bullet and get it done though Rolex themselves, a piece like this deserves it.
