I really don't like NATO straps. So here's 32 reasons below, why I don't;
So there you go, 32 compelling, irrefutable reasons why I really don't like NATOs. I'm willing to debate any good reason why I'm wrong.
Confused? Well you should be ๐ How can someone state they don't like NATOs & then post a pic of a pile of 32 NATO straps that he owns? Well, I haven't quite worked that bit out yet! The worst of it is, I'm sure I have a tin somewhere that contains many more.
I have always been a believer, that in life, in order to achieve what you want, the sooner you understand your own behaviour, traits & characteristics the easier it becomes to achieve that. Knowing what you're good at is the easy part. Realising what you're not so good at takes self reflection & a bit of maturity.
This leads me to the real point of the post. My behaviour regarding my various watch purchases & watch paraphenalia really is the polar opposite of my behaviour & strengths that I need in my job.
In my work I have to be methodical, considered, logical & thoughtful. I have to try & foresee unknowns & then calculate the potential impact this may or may not have on a budget. If a film/tv director asks me if we have an additional $100,000 in our budget to film a scene in a different way, with only a few weeks left of the film shoot, I have to say yes or no.
There are consequences either way. If I say no & it turns out we did, I get my @ss kicked. If I say yes, & it turns out we don't.......you can work out the rest. ๐
So how the hell can a man that has to use logic & reason explain why he's bought 30+ NATO straps that he never wears because he doesn't like them? ๐ฎ
Have any you guys looked at your watch purchasing habits & learned anything you didn't know about yourself? Anybody left scratching their head the morning after buying something watch related? How quickly does buyer's remorse hit you? How quickly can you dismiss buyer's remorse to justify another pointless purchase?
ps Are there any Shrinks in the house? ๐

The absolute cure for buyerโs remorse is to make an impulse purchase as soon as possible. Hopefully something completely useless.

LOL, that is so true & genuinely your comment has made me laugh out loud.
Can that be put down to being stubborn or just delusional? It's like the kid that's been told not to touch the hot stove, continually touching the hot stove because he doesn't like being told what to do. ๐

All about stubbornness. Iโm kinda tempted to buy something right now. This is enabler city here ! ๐คช

Go for it, especially if it's something you really don't like ๐
Same dude. Maybe i bought 15-20 nato straps before i realized itโs generally not for me. But i too am stubborn and every now and then I place a watch on a NATO and use it for a day or two before realizing i donโt want it. So i curse and swear and finangle the steel bracelet back on and swear itโll never go on a nato again. For the nth time ๐๐๐

I'd love to say that I have no idea what you're talking about but yes, I too go through that very same thought process. ๐ฏ
It's ridiculous, I mean, why am I even holding on to all of these straps? It's blind hope that I'll find a use for them when the reality is that they're just taking up needless space in my house.
I have a different struggle, I never bought a Nato strap. I hate them so much I hate how they look and they ruin the watch for me. My struggle is that I want to like them. I try to force myself to like them because it will give me more wearing options and change the watch looks every now and then. But everytime I look at a watch in a Nato, my eyes hurt.

Yes! NATO's are functionally a good piece of kit. Aesthetically? Cheapens the look of almost every watch they go on, IMO. EVEN leather ones.
The watches from the military can come over to civilian life. The NATO's should stay there.
I must admit, I kind of like NATO straps and for sure have similar amounts of Natos in some boxes. I usually end up with one NATO that I really like with a particular watch although I buy and bought easily 4 or 5 that might also look good with that watch. In the end it is most of time just one that really looks best for that watch.
Main reason I like NATOs is the weight reduction a watch gets and how much lighter and less noticeable it wears especially under warmer conditions.
At first I though you were describing my job.
Can u tell me how u find studio underdog? Manual winding is a bit of a thing

I haven't had any difficulty with mine but it does need winding every day. If you forget it will stop on day two.
Tiffer mate you only have to tell me once and I'll believe you you don't have to give 35 reasons to convince me mate ๐๐

Good point well made ๐
My Hamilton Khaki Mechanical is the only watch that I prefer worn with a NATO, mainly because it is military-inspired, thin, and lug length seems well designed for it.
