To add a higher end piece, or not to add? That’s the question 😎

Love the big 3 I currently have (Hamilton Khaki Auto, Seiko Solar 38mm, Seiko SPB143), but can’t help feeling the itch for a higher end piece, specifically a Tudor, Omega, or Longines. Anyone have any thoughts on adding something else, or should I just be satisfied with what I’ve got for now 😅Prefer not to spend more than $2-3k.

I feel like an Aqua Terra would go well here. With the three you have I feel like an all around, dressier piece is missing. Something that can be worn out and about but also be worn with a suit. A Longines Conquest or Zule Time series would be other ones.

You have 3 nice watches and there's nothing wrong with getting a 4th. Lot's of great watches to choose without going high end. What , exactly, would a higher end watch give you that a Zodiac, another Hamilton,Tissot,Mido, Certina or Steinhart won't.

I'm in the same boat with you. Full watch box and no where to go. No need to go anywhere at this point. Just enjoy what you have for now and be selective about the next purchase and keep saving.

Thanks! Yes, I’ve been thinking about a 38mm Aqua Terra or a 36mm Black Bay. Also like the Zulu time.

Very true! Only thing I can think of is higher end finishing, movement, and better bracelet, but the ones you named are great 👍

You have a beautiful collection. Don't know you and your circumstances, so can only speak for myself, but when it comes to my own collecting, I will only ever buy frivolous knick-knacks (and watches are definitely frivolous knick-knacks) if there isn't any other conceivable better use of my money. Like, watches are the LAST thing on my list of things to spend money on. Once all the other boxes have been ticked, and I still got leftover disposable cash, then I would buy a watch.

But, I gotta stick to my typecasting: Have you thought about a Grand Seiko?

Thanks for the wise words. Honesty I have not looked that deeply at Grand Seiko. I do love some of their dials, but haven’t looked at their smaller sized offerings. I typically like anything from 37mm-40mm in size, so if you have any specific ones I should take a look at, let me know!

Just go to Chrono24 and filter on those specs and you’ll see a ton of options under $3k!

Keep going till you can't open the spare room door for empty boxes 😂

There are wants and there are needs and they are 2 very different things, as the long blondes once sang.

As the others have said, if you can afford it, and it makes you happy👍

But be warned they are like crack RUN FOR YOUR LIFE!
